Shelby Reveals New 2017 F-150 Super Snake
At its headquarters in Southern California, performance vehicle manufacturer Shelby American took the wraps off its two latest projects: a wide-body Mustang concept and (more pertinent to our interests) a 2017 Shelby F-150 Super Snake.
Though Shelby is better known for its work on Mustangs, it does get its hands dirty with pickup trucks from time to time. In 2016, Shelby introduced an off-road-oriented version of the Ford F-150 and it also offered a package for 2010-2014 Ford Raptors. But the Super Snake opts for a different focus than those rigs: street performance.
During the presentation, the name Lightning was invoked more than once and the comparison seems apt looking at the spec sheet. Shelby went to town on Ford's 5.0-liter V-8, adding a supercharger, an open-air performance intake, a carbon-fiber intake tube, a heat exchanger and new fuel injectors. These modifications bump the engine's output to upward of 750 horsepower. Bear in mind that Shelby will only install the super charger on a post title sale, but it does offer a three-year/36,000-mile warranty.
Shelby also added a Borla exhaust and dual exhaust tips. For better street performance, the F-150 Super Snake rides on a lowered, Shelby-customized suspension and 22-inch chrome retro wheels wrapped in 305/45/22 Toyo Proxes ST II tires.
It wouldn't be a proper Shelby without exterior flourishes and there are many here. In addition to those wheels — which make quite an impression — wide, white racing strips run vertically from the front bumper down the liftgate and over the painted tonneau cover. A honeycomb racing grille with a large Super Snake badge lead the way up front, while the dual-intake ram-air Shelby hood and extra bodywork down the sides makes the whole package look more aggressive. And in case all of that wasn't enough, I counted six Shelby logos around the exterior of the truck.
Inside the customization is more subtle: Additions include Super Snake embroidered into both front head restraints, a large snake badge plopped onto the center storage bin, a dash plaque with the serial number and floormats with logos.
The F-150 Super Snake will only be offered in SuperCrew configuration, in both two-wheel and four-wheel drive. And if you want one, you'll have to act fast. Shelby says that only 150 of these will be made, with a price tag of $96,880 (not including destination charges). The reason for the limited run is that Ford will be coming out with an updated 2018 F-150, adding the 10-speed automatic transmission among other features. So, stay tuned for more pickup truck goodness from Shelby next year as well.

People are paying almost $500k for the new Ford GT. Not one car in GMs barn yard cost that much and is actually worth it. Talk about WEAK!

If all they focus on is brute power, than it is just a one-dimensional vehicle!
I road raced my 2005 Tacoma x-runner, trust me, it is not all about horsepower!
You need powerful brakes, a manual tranny, tires, wheels that are not bigger than 19 inches, tight suspension, sway bars, alignment adjustments, aero package underneath, air dams for front downforce, sealed bed and rear wing for rear downforce above 100 mph, weight distribution to prevent loose rear-end on hard corners, etc...
I beat a Ford Lightening with my x-runner on raw time on a 1/3 mile nascar track that was SCCA coned! I beat a Dodge Dakota 5.7 R/T on raw time also with my 4.0 liter Tacoma!
It is NOT all about horsepower folks!
Hennessey Performance can do the same thing to just about any V-8 powered vehicle. Nothing new here. Just aftermarket performance.

Yup GM don't charge that much, but they spank them cheaply built 500,000.00 GTs with a 100,000.00 car, oh and sell lots more of them to boot.

You forgot to put your pampers on when you visit PUTC, you're getting way to butt soar.
@ Frank
Nobody is shopping for a Ford GT. They've only delivered one two so far and they all will wind up in collections somewhere and never driven. So much for comparison test of the street version. How does it stand up to the Viper, Z06 or the up coming ZR1.
As far as dominating? Who one the championship in GTLM class last year?

@oxi,
We tried to tell you that when you said you increased your Tacoma's payload to 3,000 lbs after adding 1000 lbs of weight to it.
@Frank butt soar huh? What is that? When you rocket to the moon with farts? Guess you must be speaking from personal experience.

Ford GT - A motor car that will be driven 5000 miles in it's lifetime. Is that a real road car ? No, a rich mans toy.
@Frank. Sure pal. Sure. Go back to elementary school and learn how to spell.
@Frank BTW based on your comments, I'm pretty sure you qualify much more as a dumba$$ than I do.
Sweet truck & hope this will get Ford SVT to reconsider bringing back the Lightning III...
Ford - are you listening?...the Ranger platform would be ideal, more nimble, lighter & with a super-charged 5.l V8 tuned to 700-800 HP - it will run rings around any factory built street truck including the rumor of Fiat's hellcat RAM.

Oh and by the way that's a sweet truck. KEEP DREAMING GOVERENT MOTORS FAN GIRLYS. GO FORD!!! JEALOUSLY HURTS PEOPLE'S MIND.
Jealous? No, GM sells a car that's cheaper and is faster. By 3 months time, GM will sell more then Ford will make of its over priced cheaply built GT crap will make for 1 years production.

Oxi... you can race with an automatic transmission... especially with today's technology.
You brag about your so called capabilities... but the point is just that... your success depends on the OTHER DRIVER'S capabilities.
Expected more
Who would pay $96,000 dollars for that? They added a super charger / lowering kit / exhaust and stickers on a piece of crap Ford !!! At least they were smart enough not to use the Ecobust engine.
This is just a Ford F150. Nothing to be proud of.

Just like a guy with a wee schmeckle says, "Size doesn't matter."
Someone said Tacoma LOL
Sorry everyone, I forgot to medication.

Leave it to the empty suit to make bigoted comments. Then make comments about a pickup truck that blows away anything called a pickup truck from General Malaise or third party ever made or is likely to . Day after day making derogatory comments while blissfully whistling past the empty garage of GM ,Jonnys comments should be taken a with a grain of salt, literally a single grain.
Sorry everyone some GOVERMENT MOTORS FAN GIRLY IS USING MY USERNAME.
Does size matter?
Neat stuff. A coworker recently bought a Roush F-150 with a 600hp 5.0. I was starting to get depressed because of the awesome Demon hp numbers and what the Ford tuners (Shelby and Roush) were doing with the Coyote- yet not hearing about anyone offering a LS/LT based GM package with a warranty with ridiculous hp. I sure felt better when I read the new ZR1 is supposed to have 750hp. Now for an AWD rcsb silverado with that engine! The horsepower war these days is incredible.
I'm sure it sounds better than a 3.5L ecoboost but not something I would ever be interested in. 150 is more than enough to build since it wont do anything very well. Purely collector bait. Let them waste there money.

Odd question to ask considering your blog name.
You do know what "bj" stands for ?
@gms and johnny, sorry you have to defend the twins again.....I'd be upset too if I were a GM guy seeing Ford continue to dominate.
