GMC Shifts Marketing Message to 'Like a Pro'
In a shift in its marketing messaging, GMC just added another tagline — "Like a Pro" — to its newest ad campaign for its SUVs and pickup trucks. It debuted Tuesday in a spot called "How Do You Want to Live — Anthem." Next up will be "Dad Like a Pro," airing in time for Father's Day (June 18), followed by "Third Row Like a Pro" in July, featuring the GMC Acadia. The new commercials aim to demonstrate the connection between GMC owners and their vehicles.
Interestingly, and this wasn't noted in the press release, the 30-second version of the Sierra "Anthem" commercial showcases the new grille design for the 2018 Sierra Denali heavy-duty pickup with huge GMC lettering surrounded by a web of chrome mesh and framing. The new look will likely roll out to the rest of the Denali lineup later that year. No pricing information or other changes have been released.

"Professional Grade" being less than "Military Grade" moves onto another empty advertising phrase.
Poor campaign, they should mention their quality issues, and address them by saying we are going to fix it and upgrade it. Really theres their new slogan, once professional grade, now UPgrade.
GM needs to get away from the cartoonish looking frontend. The front end is way to big for the truck, The hood is already three inches higher then the bottom of the windshield and it looks ridiculous. Even worse is the low seating position inside the truck which makes trying to look over the large front end difficult.

I am interested in seeing the next round of GM trucks and engines. Hope they are great !

Blue Kool-aid.
No domestic truck carries the quality and dependability of the GM full size. I actually know a die hard Ford guy who buys his f-150s on lease because he likes the Ecoboost, but doesn't want to pay to fix it. Already had timing chain slop at 36k on his 2013. Now he leased a '16.
Wait until these things are 10 years old and worth nothing because no one wants to deal with the repairs!!!
Isn't there a Ford recall article for you to post on?
I hope these all come with 360* cameras as standard equipment. With the enormous front end, tall hood, small windshield, and low seating, you can't navigate these things without some sort of video aid.
Only kinda "like" a pro because it isn't a pro. This is inappropriate and will hurt Chevy sales even more. Way to go GM.
Andrweak, sorry you have to deflect the real issues, same problem GM has, known issues, but do nothing about it, everyone has a friend who does this and owns that, but the facts are all there, writing is o the wall, GM quality bad right now, sure Ford has its own issues but nothing like GM does....
Damn, those GMC trucks looks great. Denali versions are the best looking trucks on the road. Period!
All of this snowflake talk about needing 360 degree cameras to drive a truck without hitting something! Yikes.
How would these guys ever back a semi into the dock on a rainy night with no lights on at the dock?
@papajim,
So you're saying these GMC's are as easy to drive as a semi backing into a dock on a rainy night with no lights? Got it. I rest my case.
It ain't gonna help...
Lol, I am still asking what grade "Military grade aluminum" is.
The other day I looked at aluminum supplies to fix a military aircraft, none just said "military grade.
But anyway....
Well, at least the moved away from the Eminence Front commercials.
That was an awesome song by The Who, but obviously GMC did not look at the lyrics and study what the song was actually about, lol!
papajimdoe doesn't use his truck like a truck. It is just transportation to the mall for him. So don't listen to him.
@Nitro: sorry you continually need to defend the F-girls in an attempt to deflect the well known poor reliability and engineering flaws (recalls) which has become synonymous with F-series. I recently saw a Ford commercial where a loader dumped rocks into the bed of an F-150, but did they show you what it did to bed ? NOT!!!
I rest my case. Posted by: Blinded
@blinded
You did not make a case. sorry
@Blinded,
papajim doesn't tow.
What a great looking truck. GM all the way.
Like a pro campaign to be followed by the Average Joe(after all General Malaise trucks are just average), to be them followed by the just like a
Schmoe campaign.
GM can change any advertising they desire. They will NEVER out sell the Ford!
Under the sheet metal and interior bits, isn't the GMC and Chevy the exact same truck? Following that logic, to be a "Pro" in GM guise, one only has to identifies the differences between Chevy and GMC. Sheetmetal, and interior bits define professional. Is there any significant mechanical difference?
@gms, so sorry you forgot the test where a loaded GM frame bent.....I like how you try to copy what I always say to you, then again just like gm copied Ford, I guess the GM fanboys copy us Ford guys too.
I do love the fail on the commercial though...LIKE a pro, meaning they will never be, now thats funny....
Bad timing. I know GMC Sierra sales are down, but Chevy Silverado sales are down. Where are the Silverado ads? Ram is going to outsell Chevy now. GM doing what they always do, hurt Chevy, to prop up GM. Chevy trucks cannot have professional commercials like GM. GM is digging their own grave.
There won't be any new Chevy Silverado commercials until the new model comes out next year. Ram is almost assured to outsell Chevy now.
For the first time in my lifetime I am actually proud of my GMC.

Deflection is not your strong suit. Actually nothing about your internet masculinity is worth mentioning. Judging by the written quality of your posts, you barely made it through high school or are just finding your way in. Type in a complete, non-fragmented sentence and maybe I'll respond more to your drivel. This is all you get.
Only in your world does anyone think a Ford truck is more reliable than a GM. Most sites that look at this would definitely disagree with you. I really enjoyed the recent JD power dependability study that has Ford Fiat and Ram at the bottom and almost doubling up competitors in reported defects. GM brands all resided in the top half.
Where GM fails is in poor marketing currently. The Truck commercials need more redneck and hillbilly in them (aka Denis Leary and Guts, Glory?). The guys that don't know anything about trucks nowadays fall in love with commercials and buy based on that.

More "Like a Baby"
When they fail, they ran to mommy and daddy for a bailout!
GM deserves NO respect!
Way better then the g@y Ford ads.

Ford quality most be really bad, since GM out ranks that Ford junk!

@anderweak, I speak from experience, not because my cousins twin friends uncles sisters dad had a problem with a truck.
Sorry you and Johnny/gms/papa cant come to grips with what all are saying. Its ok, we get it, you have no experience, and come on sites to try to defend GM, the very few that defend because everyone knows they are in trouble. Its ok, calm down, you'll be happy in a Ford before long, and will see why they are number 1.
IT US MORE LIKE A DOE, CHEAP COMMERCIAL, AND IT IS MORE LIKE JUNK, Hahahahahahahsha, junk junk junk junk junk junk junk junk, Hahahahahahahsha, junk junk junk junk junk junk junk junk junk junk. And more junk. KEEP TRYING GARBAGE MOTORS. NOBODY WANTS YOUR JUNK .
@Nitro: sorry you have to always defend the FORD F-Sisters.
They should have used the Eagle's "Desperado" LOL...poor shaky GOVT motors, I'm sure the head corp is running around like a chicken without a head trying to turn the tide with RAM taking over their precious No. 2 spot....HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@gms, sorry you have to copy me, dont blame you, just like GM cant come up with things on your own.
I'm not a huge fan of General Motors, but I love these ads. Very well done. First time in a long time I've noticed an ad from GM that was any good. The chevy commercials are always really bad. Chevy needs to totally revamp their marketing. The worst thing you can do is talk trash about people that drive fords or other makes and chevy does it all the time. That won't convince people to switch brands. Just pushes them away. Especially when you trash their product and then copy it later (aluminum, bed step, soon to be turbocharged engines, etc.) Chevy would be better off to completely stop advertising than to continue to put out ads that just push customers away.
huge grille. flimsy skinny bumper. Not for me.

Please supply links to official releases from GM concerning how their new gen trucks will be constructed. Just so you know, GM has been using aluminum body paneling for decades and my 15 Silverado has an Aluminum hood. Oh by the way, no paint peeling like what is happening on the aluminum Fords. Just say'in. If you were smart and attentive you would know that the next gen GM twin will have a high strength steel safety cage just like in the bear commercials but with a mix of aluminum and I believe carbon fiber paneling and bed.

This is correct, the GM's Aluminum Hoods are getting dented with a single acorn. Just so you know GM been using it for years.

I like these ads and they're well done. Though I think "Like a Boss" would have been a catchier tagline.

Ford fans are so gullible.
LOL!!!.. is this the best these multi-million $$$ marketing agencies could come up with??!! Oh well, I guess "like a rock" didn't work so this is the next best slogan they could come up with :-)
I believe shaky GOVT motors should really do a complete cleanup sweep from top management down to their truck designers & engineers :-))
Maybe they are referring (trying to compare themselves) to the Tundra PRO you suppose??? The TUNDRA PRO is so far better than any of the Big 3. But I suppose others can dream???
Tundra forever!!!
I rest my case. Posted by: Blinded
I heard Chevy is going to spin off their 90's ad campaign "Like a Rock". They have reportedly invested millions and the new ads will air shortly. "Like a Sock", referencing the current trucks stinky sales.
With 'Like a Pro' GM has continued it's long tradition of painful marketing and hollow tag lines. Well done.
Next they'll model Buick after Cadillac and come out with the Dare Economically slogan.
