F-22 Raptor, F-150 Raptor Auctioned for Youth Aviation Education
To support youth aviation programs at the Experimental Aircraft Association, Ford has produced a one-off F-22 Raptor-inspired version of its F-150 Raptor pickup truck to be auctioned off during the EAA Gathering of Eagles on July 27.
According to the State Aviation Journal, the modification effort was led by Ford design manager Melvin Betancourt with engineering support from the Ford Performance team. These two machines share a name, and the goal was to infuse design elements from the jet into the truck while also enhancing performance.
Our favorite design addition is in the grille, which incorporates the silhouette of the F-22 Raptor. EAA says that there is also additional carbon-fiber bodywork, a light bar and a pair of full-size spare tires in the bed. Under the skin, the EcoBoost engine has been augmented by Whipple intercoolers and makes 545 horsepower, while upgraded brakes make for added stopping power.
Event attendees are welcome to bid on the rig, as are prequalified bidders who will be able to dial in during the auction. For more information on that, contact EAA's development office at 800-236-1025 or email the office at gathering@eaa.org.

Pretty cool. To bad it's not a raffle, I would be all in.
Maybe Ford will make a Ranger/Raptor F-22 to smoke the Chevy ZR2...
even though is nothing more than a PR stunt.... its always nice to see a large corporations give back to a programs that encourage young minds to achieve higher goals
So they add some stickers and the fan boys go gaga. Give me a break it's a still a Ford.
Nice job Ford as always.
@cooper, I totally agree with you on that point, no other brands do anything exciting like Ford....great point.
UGLY!!!
Copper, I never have owned a Ford, driving my first Chevy now in over 45 years of driving. Would not have that if Jeep/Ram would have a mid-size truck. Ford fan boy I'm not, but I don't put down what others drive. It goes for a good cause so no reason to bash.
The Craptor is weak, can't even out do a 30 year old open dif Chevy. If you want a real off road truck, Ram Power Wagon and Chevy Colorado ZR2 is your only choices. Narrow and lockers all the way around. No one but skinny jean, flat hat brim hipsters buy Ford Craptors, with their dad or gf's money. The Torsen front dif is for soccer moms at best on the Craptor.

Ford your be better off make a 70s highboy, cause your Craptor is just for, that high little California boys spending daddies money on a soccer mom truck for the mall parking lot.

Sierra: You really have no idea. If your posts weren't so deranged, I'd say you were just jealous.
I will not even bother with this at EAA, it's about the private airplanes, not over priced trucks that cannot seriously off-road!
"To support youth aviation programs"
You guys are all pathetic with you hating rants. GFY.
Define seriously off-road. Driving around in circles in fields and logging trails because you've got nothing better to do. That is not serious off-roading. That is playtime - what schoolboys do. Raptor has beat Taco in every off-road shootout by the way. Sorry you have so much hate for anything non-Toyota.

Please let us know what real off-roading is? Do you really want the Raptor to crawl on Mars for you to give credit.
You're getting worse then papajim, go take a vacation.
Look at this :D

SPAM with MENTAL RETARDATION
Great idea, but it would make more sense if they were giving the truck to a bunch of high school or community college kids who want to work on cars/trucks for a living when they grow up.
They will get plenty of experience repairing Fords, that's for sure!
@papa--This is my comment. Give it to a a high school or community college so the administrators and shop teacher can abuse it? I don't think that is a good idea.

It wouldn't make sense, the Raptor is flawless, they'd have to get their hands on Silverwierdo with a Shake, perhaps these kids can figure out what GM can't.
@papa--Your posts used to be good but is jealousy is tearing you apart?
Ask yourself why you are choosing this behavior. Everybody has a way of being in the world. Is your way being jealous, accusatory, highly monitoring and smothering? Why are you choosing that?
Is it because you have a history of being cheated on? There’s an expression: “What I fear, I create.” Are you testing your partner until he just finally fails? If you fear that somebody is going to cheat on you, you may just push him to a point where someone else may grab his attention. Imagine if someone else treated your partner with dignity and respect, didn’t challenge his integrity every minute of every hour, but was in fact accepting and peaceful and harmonious. These are things that really matter. You need to worry about what you’re creating. Ask yourself: Are you responsible for the previous relationships in which you were betrayed? Did you run those previous partners off with your jealous behavior?
Jealousy is a poorly disguised need for power and control. Jealous people are tyrannical, controlling, domineering and completely insensitive to the impact of their actions on their partner. Are you getting a power trip off of this? Is the payoff that you keep your partner on a short leash and completely under your control?
Choose to respect your partner and make some different choices. You have more power in your love, respect, personality and magnetism than you do in control. You can’t make him come home, but you can make him want to come home.
@ all anti Raptor folk,
Don't you get it? This is an awesome truck and competition helps everyone. Do you guys seriously believe what you are saying? You really think ALL the mainstream critics and magazines are totally off base? Do you really believe that all the quality indexes that have GM and Ford basically on par are inaccurate? Ram, GM and Ford all make great trucks!
Go ford!!! The best never rest.
Nice to see corporations give back, but talk about a stretch. I'm a pilot, and doing carbon fiber stuff and grill stuff again just doesn't give me the connection to a JET with the capability of the F-22. Yes it caught my attention because I thought the title made me think that they are raffling off a F22 also. So I had to read. But talk about propaganda. This shows how corporations stretch the truth. I mean really, besides some carbon fiber, the only air a F150 will get is off some jump.
OK, so the money goes to youth aviation programs. I wish I had something like that when I was in high school dreaming of the day I'd get to fly. EAA (Oshkosh airshow) is something I look forward to, in order to see all the new planes and diesel aircraft engines (lookup EPS), when the truck stuff has me yawning. In this case 545hp is 3x the hp I have in the Cessna 172 I fly, but only jumps get the f150 off the ground. So a carbon grill with an un-aerodynamic brick front end is a contradiction in terms.
Sorry but I have to defend the GM twins by bashing Ford.

This!
Why Ford value go down this week ???
That is why in the Sonic commercial you see two guys seating in the front seat of a Camaro. LOL
Posted by: Blueman | Jul 7, 2017 7:21:25 PM
The driver is the owner, the other guy is his unfortunate Mustang owner friend. They are picking up food and then going back to fix the Mustang.
@ Sierra,
You would better serve your brand of choice by talking to features, options and innovations of your brand rather than take part in this perpetual silliness.
It wouldn't make sense, the Raptor is flawless, they'd have to get their hands on Silverwierdo with a Shake, perhaps these kids can figure out what GM can't.

HAHA! More like them highschool kids figure out why 3.5l eco turds keep blowing time chains, and how to fix them. Plus the common always coming back intercooler problems. Wait you can fix all that by putting a gm or dodge engine in it .HAHAHA!
If the Raptor is so great, why are U.S. Special Forces still using Toyota trucks including Tacoma's in combat zones in Afghanistan and Syria as well as Iraq?
Some simple reasons are, too big and heavy with little ground clearance to match the heavy weight, unreliable in the field, no spare parts available locally to name a few.
Toyota trucks actually have a war victory to their credit, not some yuppie Ford Raptor!

Basically it comes down to people will use what they can get to their hands on and use what the locals use to blend in.
The 3rd world likes cheap hand-me-down geezer pickups. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but we are not a third world.
Special Forces used Toyotas on the battlefield for several years, until the increased proliferation of Improvised Explosive Devices forced them into military-grade mine-protected vehicles.
If there was a war in the US we would not be using third world hand me down pickups. That much I can tell you. The US Border Patrol is using Raptors.
Just another Raptor to be parked in the Mall parking lot.

something papajim knows a lot about since he only hauls air to the mall and bing parlors.
Jamie, nice excuses!
U.S. Special Forces are still using Toyota trucks to this day!
You do not see any Raptor's with .50 cal's or M249's mounted in their bed's do you?
Toyota trucks are credited with winning a major battle against military tanks, you will never see a Raptor get that kind of credit, ever!

I hear Ford is laying off hundreds of thousands of technicians because their products are flawless. LOL!
