2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, GMC Sierra 1500: Recall Alert
Vehicles Affected: Approximately 691,000 model-year 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 pickup trucks manufactured between January 30, 2013, and September 4, 2014, and GMC Sierra 1500 pickups manufactured between January 29, 2013, and September 4, 2014
The Problems: If there is a temporary loss and then return of electric power-steering assist, especially during low-speed maneuvers, there may be a loss of control of the steering wheel, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.
The Fix: Dealers will update the EPS software for free.
What Owners Should Do: Chevrolet and GMC manufacturer GM has not yet provided an owner-notification schedule. Owners can call Chevrolet at 800-222-1020, GMC at 800-432-8782, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit www.safercar.gov to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.

Is this all of the vibration complaints.
691,000!!!!!!!!! DAMN, gonna need another bailout!
How long has electric power steering been around? And GM can't get it right?
In Gms defense, they do use the steering tech from 50 years ago, so that is most likely why, maybe the 2019 trucks will have 1990 version of steering which should fix the problem.
@GMSGREAT
That's not accurate at all.
My cousin had his 1500 in for this issue, it was a re calibration of the programming. Was quick and easy.
I am certain that as we get more and more electronics a monthly update will be issued for all vehicles, much like our phones and computers now. It is inevitable and will be mainstream soon. I suspect our phone will be able to receive an update for the vehicle you drive and can be downloaded by yourself to your vehicle. Scary.
At least they caught it before the accidents happened this time.
Red-meat anti GM content for the usual idiots!
Nitro could be counted on for his usual brilliance. Can't wait to see what Frank and Lionel have to say.
This is nothing new everyone already knows Fords are death traps and trash.
Unexplained driveline vibrations. Interior buffeting phenomena. Brake booster failures and now this power steering fiasco.
This GM truck generation certainly has been hexed right from the beginning.
No reports of any accidents, the general got this. Unlike Ford with their exploding Pintos and Explorers and roll away vehicles with the weak parking paws that were never fixed.
This is factual GM content.
It’s just a matter of accepting the fact that GM blew it with these trucks.
@Chris
So sorry. I did not mean to leave you out

No---just horrifyingly unstable Corvairs that flipped over at highway speeds, full-size GM pickups that had exploding side-saddle fuel tanks, and a myriad of crappy deathtraps with faulty ignition switches.
Bet you're wishing you didn't bring it up, right?
Johnny, sierra, gms, papa, sorry you guys have to defend the twins again.
Jonny dum dum, sierra, gmsrjunk, and pupa are the same PERSON who are defending GARBAGE MOTORS AKA GM.

Nope, you Ford type need to be reminded of your companies horrifying death traps and the poor to no response to correct them.
I mean we.

@ the "GMSRGREAT want to be", can you name the steering type/s used in 1990 and 1967 ?
Going to be great when they get over the air updates.
Wow Ford clowns using my name again, must of got tired of trying to defend their recall king junkie Fords. Use your own name, oh wait I forgot what name you where using lost you all your credibility. Stupid Ford clowns I swear.

No its not.
What the heck=johnny doe
wow, sold 691 thousand 2014 trucks
@papajim--GM needs to merge with Ram. Maybe the two of them can make one truck that competes.
Poor Quality.
Bad Trucks.
GM.
Ford fans are eating this alive...meanwhile they are quiet about the 1.33M Explorers being investigated. These things happen all the time. But seriously, 690K vs 1.33M? And on top of that, many of the Explorers are used by law enforcement. Safe? Austin PD doesnt think so...

Let me guess cheep fleet. I think they left Ford for that. They want retail.
Commercial fleet is not cheap.
Ram takes aim at GM, Ford truck-fleet reign
"Ram is trying to break the stranglehold Ford and General Motors have held for decades on PROFITABLE commercial fleet sales."
http://www.autonews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20130610/RETAIL01/306109960/ram-takes-aim-at-gm-ford-truck-fleet-reign#axzz2VpTpLNhq
Commercial fleet pickup truck buyers are a little different from individual truck customers; they're not so much concerned with horsepower, expensive frills and details, or the latest and greatest creature comforts. Instead, their priorities are more practical and for the long-term, and when they buy, they usually buy in large numbers. That's why Ram Truck has been pushing so hard lately to offer a better portfolio of options for fleet buyers to better compete with Ford and General Motors.
According to Automotive News, almost 90 percent of commercial fleet buyers are split between Ford and GM, with most of the remainder going to Ram Truck.

papajim seems to be divisive, causing dissention, an A'hole.
Your preference for a pickup, like that Silverado has obviously been ignored by hundreds of thousands, even millions if the global market is considered.
You are not representative of the whole vehicle or pickup market.
Nice talking to you.

Statistically neither the Pinto nor the GM pickups with fuel tanks outside of the frame rails were more dangerous than other vehicles, both were the victims of a few well publicized cases and anti-business media. Most of the Pintos that exploded were hit in the rear by much larger vehicles going well over legal speeds and at least one had already been cited for having an illegal bumper. At any rate, the Pinto was a much better car than the Vega. When the media tried to demonstrate how dangerous the GM pickups were they had to stuff the trucks with pyrotechnics to get a news worthy event.
This is a cheap recall that gets people onto the lots. Many of whom look and buy new trucks.

GM fans are the dumbest, most ignorant people on this website. Open your eyes people and realize that GM builds crap. Always has and always will. It is why they needed a bailout in the first place. Objective buyers have rejected their product.

I guess that's what GM gets for always copying Ford. Isn't that what the Ford fan girls always claim.

You really need to change your anti social behaviour.
papajim,
We will not stoop to your level.
Have a nice Sunday, chump.
Can't believe all the third grade comments from both GM and Ford supporters. You would think these people were children.
