Drivetrain: 240-horsepower, turbo-diesel 3.0-liter V-6; 305-hp, 3.6-liter gas V-6; 395-hp, Hemi 5.7-liter V-8; eight-speed transmission; two- or four-wheel drive
Hits dealerships: Late 2017
For model-year 2018, the Ram 1500 pickup truck does not have many changes, but it does offer some interesting improvements and a new trim level. The 2018 Ram 1500 continues to offer class-exclusive features such as the RamBox lockable dual storage box, coil springs on the rear suspension, a four-corner airbag suspension option and the only small diesel available in the half-ton pickup class.
For 2018, the Ram 1500 offers 11 different trims including three different Laramie luxury trims and the brand-new Limited Tungsten trim at the top of the lineup. The 10 other trims are: Tradesman, Express, SLT, HFE, Big Horn/Lone Star, Lone Star Silver, Sport, Night, Rebel, Laramie, Laramie Longhorn and Laramie Limited.
Ram 1500s come in three different wheelbases to accommodate five different cab and bed configurations. Regular cabs can be had with 6-foot 4-inch or 8-foot beds; Quad Cabs come with a 6-foot 4-inch bed; and crew cabs have 5-foot 7-inch or 6-foot 4-inch beds. Buyers have a choice of 12 paint colors — some exclusive to trim levels — and a variety of accents that includes chrome, body-color or black-out paint details.
For 2018, the 1500 will continue to offer three different engine choices: the turbo-diesel 3.0-liter V-6 that makes EPA ratings of 20/27/23 mpg city/highway/combined; the 3.6-liter V-6 gas engine offering EPA ratings of 17/25/20 mpg; and the Hemi 5.7-liter V-8 that offers EPA ratings of 15/22/17 mpg. According to Ram, the 1500 HFE gets 21/29/24 mpg.

Some nice features and updates, man GM cant get a break, with everything new around them, and they still have nothing but an older twin....great job Ram, looking forward to you stomping on the number 1 twin-Chevy, and taking over the #2 spot soon.
When will Gm get some new class leading items to bring to the table?

If Ram has class leading then the F-series is now a 3rd class rated truck. Ford is no longer a class leader or sales leader. Ouch!
Ford loses again!
Ford loses again!
GM has class leading OnStar tech and the class leading 6.2 half ton and the class leader bumper steps.
GM has all of this already. Welcome to 2014!
Here's a list of the upgrades and changes to the 2018 Ram 1500:
A brand-new ultra-luxurious top-of-the-line Limited Tungsten edition
Limited Tungsten edition pickups can be had as a Premium model - GM says welcome to Denali
Sport models can be upgraded with an appearance package - so?
Rebel models now offer a leather interior option - why so late?
Backup cameras are standard on all models - gov mandate, they had no choice
Truck beds have a remote switch to activate LED bed lights - which can run down your battery, I prefer Natty light
An optional package that includes the 8.4-inch radio screen with 4G LTE, HD Radio, Android Auto, Apple Car Play, USB flip and pinch to zoom with improved graphics resolution - smart phone better
Sirius Guardian with SOS Call, Roadside Assistance, Remote Services, Send and Go, and Vehicle Finder is available as an optional package - more B's, where are the real upgrades?
Looks like a bore and weighs as much as a sow
@ Nitro
GM has the best small block V8's in the class. What does ford have?? Oh ya a lawn mower engines, because they can't build a competitive V8...and don't call the 5.0L a truck engine bc we all know it isn't. Its a car engine! And they refuse to put the 6.2 (which is a good motor) into their half tons anymore!!
BTW I saw a new ford this weekend and it still didn't have HID led running daylights which come standard on a chevy or sierra. Still that ugly yellow looking headlight....what a joke!!
That ram night hawk edition looks sweet! If they would over the 6.4L in that with either 2 or 4 wheel drive would be a screamer!
Nice looking trucks offered this year by ram before there remodel in 2019
my bad just "night edition"
Was thinking of track hawk...read article on new jeep just before I came here.....BTW..if I had $100K to blow...thats the vehicle I would drive!!
Garbage.

Thank you. The 2018 Rams are chick full of trash.
The 2018 Rams are chock full of trash.
@GMS, you are using so many names you are confusing yourself....will the real GMS please stand up? Wait just like GM, the company, sitting down is more your thing...
@tnt, so sorry you have to continue to defend the little outdated V8's GM twins use. I'll take a lawnmower engine that will tow and be fuel efficient over that outdated shaky v8 of GM...Defend away.
Ram couldn't even give these trucks HID headlights and LED fog lights? What a shame... I think this is the only truck in this segment to not offer HID or LEDS (Toyota finally gave the Tundra LED headlights on the 2018 Tundra).

Nitro likes trash upgrades, that's why he likes Ford trucks. Haha!
It still has the ugliest grill in its class. Somebody has to keep J.C. Whitney in business.
Outdoorsman, where is it?
@sierra, why are yo using GMS name? You sound identical, bash Ford and defend the twins who cant break into number 1 sales in full sizers....sorry you have to defend.
GM is the class leader. Only GM has hid and LED lights standard, no other truck not even Ford offers this or a 6.2 V8 in a half ton. More upgrades are coming in January to leave Ford fans shaking in their boots. Lastly, GM sells more trucks than anyone: Silverado Sierra Colorado canyon Suburban Tahoe Yukon. These are the facts you cannot that deny! Sorry you have to defend Ford.
GM missed the mark on their class leading by not offering a larger gas tank. Seems pretty stupid to have one of the best tow trucks in the half-ton segment, but you will need to stop for gas every ~225 miles.
GM and Nissan are the only half ton trucks that don't offer a optional larger fuel tank on 4 door trucks.
I'm on my second Ram Longhorn and love the truck .. was a Chevy guy for many years but decided to try the ram in 2013 and just bought my second one ... lots of power, comfortable, and the only problem I ever had was a defective battery in my first one, which was covered under warranty ... (5.7 litre & 8 speed trans)
Please change the body style it's the same year after year sorry to say but true I'm waiting to buy a New Ram this is stopping my to do so ,so let's go Dodge Bild New design thanks!
Nice looking trucks for second oldest platform before shaky GOVT motors...LOL
However I would be very interested in a 1500 night version w/4WD & a hellcat 6.4...now that could be my next truck :-))
Wow nice rig, Ford could never built a truck as good as GM and Ram. Ford uses to many cheap china parts in their junkers!
Limited Tungsten? Get with the program Ram, don't you realize tungsten is old tech? Now when you offer a Limited LED version I'll be sure to give it some thought.
I'll take a lawnmower engine that will tow and be fuel efficient over that outdated shaky v8 of GM...Defend away.

Fuel efficient? Those ecoboosts guzzle more gas than a conventional V8 and can barely make it through the warranty period without something breaking or the engine going into limp mode. Stretched timing chains, junk cam phasers, blown turbos, thrown rods, cracked heads, cracked spark plugs, leaking internal water pumps, an oil pan full of gas thanks to Ford's pig rich tune, etc. I see that Ford still has shaky F150 problems with their ecoboost F150's. First they ignore those cheap timing chains that stretch well before 100k miles, now they're still ignoring all the shuddering ecoboost trucks. "It's normal" according to Ford LOL!
Junk engines like usual, just like the junk Tritons, junk Duratecs, junk Powerstrokes, junk Cologne V6's, wimpy 5.0's, etc.
I like reading the Bit&h session among the big 3 fans. Fact is none of them are as reliable, long lasting, tough, retain resale like the Tundra. It's not even close, I will acknowledge that the big 3 get better fuel efficiency. Ill more than make that up in better resale over the lifetime of my truck.
My Tundra gets me home, every time, priceless.
As usual, jealous GM fans with their negativity. If you don't like Ram, don't read the article.......

Beautiful, comfortable and will satisfy your every need.
@Dudly...
My Ford trucks haver never let me down, NEVER!
Tundras have had their share of problems as much as the others.
Resale? All pickups have good resale if taken care of and serviced.
Tnudras just have a little bit of an odd shape and need a little redesign. But glad you're getting home everyday in yours while I'm working my F150 all day long...
I'm a Ford man thru and thru, but the Ram is definitely my 2nd choice. If spec'd correctly, in my opinion, it's a beautiful truck.
I don't care for the rotary shifter knob, the pig snot grille is a no go for sure. and the large RAM letters on tailgate will not work.
But for now, I'll keep my Ford.
Good looking trucks can't wait til we get to see the 2019
Great looking truck looks way better than the shabby brick from Chevy

i am sure that 90% of the comments on this site come from children that have never owned a truck, I have several GM trucks ,all awesome performers,do upfitting on fleet vehicles & can tell you the aluminum Fords are scary & costly to up fit,all agencies end up with them because of price, the companies that buy because of a reliable ,lowest cost to operate & trouble free buy GM.
my old 2007 duramax has 308,00 miles ,trouble free & strong as ever.
The nearby city (pop. approx 10k) was big on Ford fleet trucks. White regular cab long box with cheap grills and steel wheels. The Ford dealer was hauling them to the service department all the time. My nephew works in their the body shop and had all kinds of stories. Rockers breaking loose, ecoboost stalling, transmission shuddering problems. The city ended up bringing back some of their 2500HD's back out of retirement when too many of the F-150's were sitting at the dealer waiting for parts.
Wow, you keep proving to be a clown 2.7EcoboostRoost. Ford is a cheap cheap china junk parts using company.
http://kogodbusiness.com/reports/auto-index/
Enjoy you fake US Fords, 90% of them are made in Mexico with cheap cheap china parts. :)
@johnny/gms, sorry you guys dont even know your own brands, and where they are made. There is a plant in monterray mexico that makes truck frames for Chevy/GMC. Next door there is one for Ram as well. I guess you guys do not really know the twins that well at all, sorry you have to defend the junk comments now that you know the reason for the rusty frames on the twins.
Nitro dreams about how butch he'd feel if he owned a pickup as manly and sexy as a RAM 1500 Big Horn.
Even the words Big Horn get him a little verklempt down there in the Jockies. This boy wants a damn V8 so bad.
Don't worry, it's normal. If you spent as much time listening to an engine soundtrack on your Eco-truck's stereo system as he has you'd be a little cuckoo too.
@ Nitro
Fuel efficient?? My 5.3L destroys my step dads 3.5L eco-bust in fuel economy! Your an idiot!!! When pulling or driving the 5.3L or 6.2L always gets better. in almost every comparison its been in the 3.5L has always underachieved.
Get a clue! You've drank to much of fords propaganda cool-aide, he can't see right from wrong!! You clown! Fuel efficient...laughable
@ Nitro
Defend?? Isn't that what you do for Ford every time you comment?? You are so delusional you don't even understand what you are typing or saying sometimes....that's what happens to people when they have been lied to there entire life. Kinda feel so for you! Nah!! Not really!
in almost every comparison its been in the 3.5L has always underachieved.
Posted by: TNTGMC | Sep 12, 2017 7:59:20 AM
You can include the 6.7 powerstroke as an underachiever also. It continually falls short of the Diesel leaders, Cummins and Duramax.
@papa jim--You are having gay fantasies or are a homophobe. Your postings reveal a lot about you.
@tnt, I have owned chevys and know how the fuel econmy is, its not what it says on the indicator, do the math. I dont need to defend, the gm guys do.
Back to the article, great job Ram, gonna take chevy!
@poopa, I had 1500 hemi loved it, also speaking of no clue, I do not own a ecoboost or a 150 Ford, only superduty diesel for me. we had chevy's at work, but they got dumped in the fleet due to all the issues, we are now Ford.
