Chevy Pickups Celebrate 100 Years With Centennial Edition

Centennial 1

To celebrate 100 years of Chevrolet pickup trucks, the Bow-Tie brand introduced the Centennial Edition for the Silverado 1500 and Colorado pickups at the 2017 State Fair of Texas in Dallas. The eye-catching Centennial Blue special editions will not have any mechanical upgrades, but they will be offered with a unique classic bow-tie badge that echoes designs from the original 1918 work truck.

The well-equipped Silverado 1500 Centennial Edition LTZ Z71 crew cab will sport unique badges on the front grille, tailgate and front door, the latter a special 100 Years badge. A spray-in bedliner and floor liners will sport bow-tie emblems, and 22-inch wheels and chrome tow hooks will complete package. The Colorado Centennial Edition LTZ will be offered in crew or extended cab, and will include the emblem bedecked spray-in bedliner and floor liners along with chrome tow hooks, mirrors and door handles. The limited-production Silverado 1500 will be available in October and the Colorado in November.

In addition to the two new special-edition pickups, Chevrolet also announced that its popular Chevy Truck Legends club, which launched in 2016 and now boasts a membership of almost 6,000 Chevy owners in Texas, will go nationwide. The program makes loyal Chevy truck owners whose pickups have more than 100,000 miles on the odometer eligible for numerous perks, from front-row seats at concerts to MLB games, sneak-peek movie premieres and more. The program is free; sign up at Chevy Truck Legends.

Finally, it's worth noting Chevy has one of the best displays at the fair, highlighting its most interesting and important pickups throughout its 100-year history. Our favorite is the 1967 C10 Fleetside. What's yours? Let us know in the comments section below.

Another "edition" truck from GM--spare us!

On a positive note--Chevy designers need to hark back to the clean design of the '67 shown above. Just sayin'.

That '67 looks AWESOME! The other two, not so much.

Finally, an article about trucks with style, performance and efficiency. Geat job GM.

Good idea. Poor execution.

All it has are badges, logos and 22s. I don't want 22s on any truck. And bages and logos don't impress me.

But the GM fanboys will all tell us how badges make a better truck. smh.

Back to the drawing board.

Unique badges and emblems.

Yawn.

Looks like all their other trucks, very boring, nothing new again. Major yawn, wow they certainly aren't trying for 1st place, or 3rd. Looks like they have given up. Bankruptcy here we come.

Celebrating 100 years of junk

If only GM put the round wheel wells from the 67 on the new trucks.

GM should have at least spelled CHEVORLET on the tailgate on the special edition, that would have been interesting.

I also echo the comments about the 22" rims on a truck, they are ridiculous especially when GM puts 31.5" tires (one of the smallest in the segment) on their trucks. The low profile tires will make the truck ride rougher than they already do.

So I went to build one of these on the Chevy website, and you can't get an integrated trailer brake controller with the Centennial Edition! When you select ITB, it states you must remove the Centennial Edition package.

I guess Chevy is really throwing back when you had to install your own.

@Tyler,

If GM would go Round Wheel wells then perhaps they can fit bigger tires. Just a thought, Super duty can fit almost 35s stock.

I see Chevy Trucks lifted high, but have tiny tires, and if they go bigger, they'll hit the bumper. Sux.

Nice Looking truck! Love the color.

All the haters out there...what is the difference with Ford offering 10 different models?? Or dodge renaming one of their model? I don't get it. I commented on your limited Ford dually and I didn't once hate on it. GEEEZZZ!

For Frank, Nitro and HICK

I'm being sarcastic by the way!! HATE away!! because you guys are well at it...except you support no facts or evidence to justify it!! LOL

Has there ever been a more exciting and dynamic style for a pickup?

Hating takes effort, not giving a cr@p takes no effort.

@tnt, I actually like the color of this CHevy, really like the color. Its just that the whole chevy gmc twins(same truck), are boring inside and out, and have been for many years. Its just an opinion, take it how you want to. I've said before I would buy a Ram too, so no big deal. Its more fun that you guys fall into the trap and have to defend all the time.

@papa, to answer your question, yes the 2010 silverado special edition, which this looks just like that 7 year old truck.

Hating takes effort, not giving a cr@p takes no effort.

@ Frank

That's the story of your life!!
NO EFFORT

@Frank you clearly do care as you post on pretty much every GM post to hate on it. SMH.

Ha! Says the guy with who's been trvlling using there in-laws as examples, please I don't need to stoop that low.

@ Frank

Says the guy who has no comebacks, never posts facts, and lies out of his @$$ like Ford does!!!

you are a funny, non intelligent individual

I posted facts that the 5.3L has no low end torque and is basically a car engine.

Comparing the 5.3L and Ford 5.4L, the Ford pulls better.

It's my experience with both, others here who are not bias have confirmed.

You can't take it that the 5.3L was not superior to the Ford, I know it's hard for you to understand, but you should as it's all part of your current adolescences growth. It takes a man to accept it, so get over it. GM does not make the best engines, PERIOD!!!

Second, you like to share family stories about your in-laws, yeah ok, I don't need to make up stories to tell you about my (insert family, friend member) truck is no better than mine.

I don't need to stoop this low, because you will only beat me at your again.

**you'll only beat me at your sad lame game.

@ Frank

Again not facts. Opinions

I give you facts all the time from previous articles on anything we talk about. You even had facts right in front of you on this website and you are still to naive, adolescent, and ignorant to know the difference.

And my family experiences are true life facts not made up propaganda you drink you of by Ford

What facts? Your In-Laws, sorry not good facts.

Alex, here at PUTC knows what he's talking about.

I'm done with you.

FORGOT TO TAKE MY MEDS AGAIN, SPENDING TO MUCH TIME WITH Chingon. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm starting to think that papajim is also TNT, name calling tactics, and always stating someone else that has a Ford, while never actually owning one.

Well said GMS, coming back around again.

Great looking trucks GM! The Ford fan girls show up once again to defend why their cheap poorly built china Fords are in 2nd place to GM in sales in the US market place.

Let's do a quick survey. How many people plan to buy a Chevy truck in the next 6 months and how much is this stuff worth to you?
"unique badges on the front grille, tailgate and front door, the latter a special 100 Years badge. A spray-in bedliner and floor liners will sport bow-tie emblems, and 22-inch wheels and chrome tow hooks"

I might buy a new one in 6 months, but I don't know my 2014 just keeps going and going with well over 200,000 on it. Something my Fords never would do, they where falling apart before 100,000 miles.

I really don't think that you guys get the point of this trim. It's not a performance trim, its not a trim that people using to tow/haul etc, and it's not a trim for off roading- its a trim to pay homage to 100 years of building trucks which will eventually make it a collectable truck. Most buyers of this truck would be smart to keep it in good shape as it will probably be worth a substantial amount of money to the right person in 25+ years.

Sorry I'm not Papa Jim

Sorry u fanboys can't take personal experiences feom your fellow fanboys who can't take the truth

But hey u guys believe ford so go figure

Nice Looking truck! Love the color.

You just like the rainbow wheel wells.

WOW !! NICE TRUCKS!! I'm EXCITED for Gretta/johnny/pap/sierra. Who will you guys sleep tonight??

Awful looking trucks GM! The GM fan girls show up once again to defend why their cheap poorly built in Mexico GM's are in 2nd place and much worse to FORD in sales by brand in the US market place.

Hard to compete and live up to the C10.

I like the retro looking emblem, and the color.

Have to admit, GM sure can do the special editions for all the special fellas out there.

Have to admit, GM sure can do the special editions

Yup I agree GM sure can do the special editions for all the right reasons. Where was Fords Centennial celebration truck? That's right, there stuff so cheap and junk. They don't want you to know they been building trucks for 100 years, and still to this day can't make one no where near as reliable as GM can! Once again great looking trucks GM. Thank you for remembering history, and not trying to delete/forget/erase history like Ford and dumb libtards! Ford will never gain because they forget the past, and keep on repeating the same old mistakes.

Congrats Chevy.

Hitting 100 years (after Ford) and you've only gone under once and been 2nd in full size truck sales for the last 40 of them. Here's to another 100 with you not in first place and hopefully you can manage it this time without going under again.

Typical. Only available on a $50,000 plus model.
Why not offer that package minus the 22' wheels across the line? A WT with that throw back badge and blue paint would look awesome and you can sell more if the bread and butter LT could have it.
I like it but I'm disappointed.

@Clint

Pride comes before the fall.

Fall officially began last week but Ford still has 3 mos. to go in 2017 and the trends are NOT looking good for the late Henry Ford and his descendants. I expect to see GM finish the year above 40 dollars per share.

Ford shares have lost about 8 bucks per over the last 20 years during a time when the stock indexes have seen their price levels DOUBLE. Ouch! The very definition of a stock to avoid.

Since the new GM was born it's all been good news for their employees, customers and shareholders. Too bad about Ford. I'm excited to see the next generation of GM half ton trucks!

@papa. So beside the "share" you keep talking about. Ford is still in number 1, thats a fact that wont change in 2017. There is no born new GM, they are still years behind Ford and Ram, which is why they continue to loose sales, as shown through out this year.

@nitro

You sound like a child. I don't have time to educate you.

If you go to Yahoo Finance you can look up stock prices and charts.

You could learn something. Instead your comments remind me of (and smell like) dirty diapers.

@papa, so sorry you have to defend, you did not do a good a job, i get it, you realize I am right, thank you.

Did you do what I told you? Look in the mirror when you speak? Again thanks for listening..
