2015-2017 Ford F-150, 2017 Ford Super Duty: Recall Alert
Vehicles Affected: Approximately 1.1 million model-year 2015-17 Ford F-150 pickup trucks built at Michigan's Dearborn Truck Plant from March 12, 2014, to Dec. 31, 2016, and Missouri's Kansas City Assembly Plant from Aug. 11, 2014, to Dec. 30, 2016; and model-year 2017 Ford Super Duty pickups built at the Kentucky Truck Plant from Oct. 8, 2015, to Sept. 1, 2016
The Problem: A frozen door latch or a bent or kinked actuation cable from water seeping into the door latch could prevent the door from fully opening or closing, increasing the risk of injury. Ford said it is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to the issue.
The Fix: Dealers will install water shields over the door latches to prevent water from seeping inside for free. Dealers will also inspect and repair the latch actuation cables as needed for free.
What Owners Should Do: Ford did not immediately announce an owner notification schedule. Owners can call the automaker at 866-436-7332 for more information.

What, a Ford recall! Oh wait I did say Ford. Never mind.
I thought these trucks were 'Military Grade'... /sarc
Great catch Ford, unlike GM with the key issue and we all know that result.
All trucks ride like crap
Hmm, went from fire recalls to water recalls, all that is left is air and earth then we have ourselves a avatar truck... lol
I am glad this was recalled. I had my door freeze about 3 times last winter and become difficult to close/latch. These trucks are way to fast to have doors fly open. It could be like a jet airplane and suck to occupants right out. I am being 100% serious. Thank you FMC for addressing this issue.
Way to stay ahead of the curve! Great job, Ford!!
A million trucks recalled?
Another down day for Ford news. Oh, and the stock price is DOWN again.
GM Stock?
It's up. Ho hum
Did they think military grade aluminum would prevent water from freezing inside a poorly designed Door?
I suppose its more of an issue when they are on the rental lots waiting to be used...
Over a million busted trucks right from the factory.
Does PT Barnum run Ford nowadays?
Toyota had this problem years ago,the doors popped open and people fell out..Ford is copying the so called leader lol...Quality is job none as Ford says !
This recall is costly. 267 million down the toilet.
GM is not without their share of recalls.

Any manufacturer does. But 5 million vehicles for issues with the door latches since 2016, and the issues are not the same?
I wouldn't even put my arm on the door armrest in a ford made in the last 5 years.
GM builds the best trucks.
S T freak up. GM had the same problem and never recalled. Ford is recalling to fix the issue, something GM never did.

And don't forget, the last time Ford issued a recall for door latch failures, they tried to weasel out of a full recall and only wanted to recall vehicles in warm regions. I guess they don't think their customers use their vehicles for long trips to hotter climates?
Thank you FMC for addressing this issue.

HAHA yeah it only took 3 years for them to do it. Still waiting for them to address the brake failures on the 2015+ Ecoboost F-150's. The feds forced them to deal with the 2013-14 F-150's but nothing about the 2015+ trucks despite using the exact same failure prone parts. They should also recall those junk electronic throttle bodies. Those things are failing left and right.
All you GM trvlls are hypocrites that need to just shut it.
F'ken idiot$
Looks like Ford is going to have to cut into that engine development budget again! They already cut the budget in half! Now it'll be cut in half again LOL. Time for another Ford bailout!
You have to wait ten years for em to work out most the problems. I own a 2014 6.2 f150 and the drive shaft is junk and Ford won't do any thing about. That is the only thing wrong with it! I waited tens years so they could fix most problems. LOL

Does your truck shake too? My 2016 F-150 shakes at highway speeds. They tried swapping out tires and wheels twice, road forced balanced them twice, and eventually gave up. Now they say it's "normal". I guess they think it's okay to shake worse than my nephew's 2014 Chevy. At least GM bought his back and got him a new one that's super smooth. His new Chevy is super smooth all the way up to the speed limiter. Ford won't do anymore for me.

Well you spoke out of turn. LOL. Why would a guy lie about his own truck, not everyone on here is a storyteller. You just can't handle the fact that Ford's do have issues.

Disposable trucks!
That water may soften the glue and cause more problems. Either way glad I quite Ford back in 92. First on recalls. They must give free donuts @ the dealer. All you can eat lol
Disposable trucks!
Papa, what are you talking about? Everyone knows the stock is up due to bail out that we will never get back. Anyone who buys stock in autos is not very smart. Look at the long time trends on Gm stock.
did ford engineer this latch or is it a supplier part?
Well its no Fiat Buy back, and certainly no GM ignition spring but it needs to be fixed.
wait so water has to seep into the latch, then freeze when its below 32F? sounds like a yuge problem for the lower united states

@the FAKE gmsrgreat
Please tell Nitro and Frank that their Ford-girl games are tedious to the max. Hint: Watch for GM stock to hit $50 per share by Christmas 2017.
Ford? Oh, their shares were DOWN again dyesterday
Only took Ford 1 year for the public to be the guinea pigs and discover the defect in their door latches, nice!
