Ram 2500 Power Wagon Face-Lift: Spied
Although the Ram 2500 Power Wagon is not scheduled for any significant mechanical or interior changes for several years, Ram will continue to play with its exterior look as the truckmaker works to provide different personalities for its pickup trucks.
Our spy photographers just sent new images that show Ram is playing with the Power Wagon. Here's their report:
"This is the face-lift for the Ram Power Wagon.
"The 2500-based Power Wagon will get another face-lift before it moves to the newer, stronger platform, a version of which will be introduced by the upcoming 2019 Ram 1500. Apparently the crosshair grille returns, and some new light treatments and hood sheet metal will likely align it closer to the look of the new light-duty Ram.
"Inside, expect select updates to the Uconnect multimedia system and to materials but no layout changes. This test truck should pave the way for a new Power Wagon in about two years."

RAM is doing a great job of appealing to their customer base.
I hear Fiat-Ram sells significantly less than 500 PW per year.
Could that be a diesel powerwagon? Look at that exhaust tip...
@ian
Looks like a gasser to me. the bigger hemi
Diesel 100%.
I am a Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram salesman. That is the 6.4 Hemi exhaust with a different tip. Looks like an emissions testing tip.
Wondering if there might be some upgrades coming to the 6.4 as well as this face lift.
I don't see much of a face lift there; it essentially looks the same as it has for the last 12 years and more.
Yawn.
Lipstick on a pig
Why bother facelifting this ancient truck? Save the cost and migrate it to the new platform sooner.
Agree!
It's not a face lift, this reporter is a morons, they are testing something for the next gen trucks and have modified the front end, if you go back and look all the RAM HD test mules you'll notice that their front ends have been stretched. Look at the side shot of this truck and you'll notice that the front fender has a larger gap in front of the front tire than it does behind the front tire. If you look a current Power Wagon or any other HD you'll find that the space is equal on both sides of the front tire, this is not a face lift on the current truck but they are testing something on for the next gen truck. The question is what are they testing? I guess time will tell.

If it's not a facelift then why hide the front end?
Why not give it a facelift? they want to keep their vehicles as fresh as possible and facelifts are relatively cheap way of doing that until the new model arrives.

This design's been around since the Norman Conquest. wasting $$ on a facelift for one or 2 model years is foolish IMO.
This is such a slight change I don't even think you could call it lipstick on a pig. Chapstick would be a better comparison.
It's not that old of a design, Heck the Superduty had the same design from 1998-2016, 18 years. The HD Ram only dates back to 2010 8 years.
A facelift for only 1 year before a major redesign doesn't make a lot of sense to me. A test mule for something for/about the redesign makes more sense. But then again Fiat doesn't always make sense. I would think they would want 2 years out of a minor refresh/facelift. Maybe the PW will lag in the coming redesign. Hard to say.
With respect to a possible front end refresh, if there are no changes to the body panels, then the refresh would be nothing more than bolting on a new grill, bumper and headlights. Heck, the bumper may already be a parts bin item or aftermarket supplier ready. Why do the Ford fans boys sound like they have their nuts twisted.
Too high in the back, needs a bumper step, how about another one right in front of the rear wheel.

Because their P0$ Craptor sucks compared to the mighty Power Wagon and ZR2.
I like Ram for one simple reason, it truly has the most AMERICAN content, made in America really don't mean ANYTHING due to loop holes. If you assemble in the US you can say made in America, it's sadd that we cannot trust anything said by anyone. Times have changed and people just want money, well people and companies just want money at any cost. Ford and Chevy get most of there truck parts from China, if you check the facts you will get sick by all the B.S. those 2 companies send our way. Check all the problems with t hose 2 companies every sense they STARTED sending there engineering over seas, that's why they have so many problems with there trucks. So they engineer them over seas, then they have the parts made over seas and wonder why they build junk. I would tell anyone looking to buy a new truck from Ford or Chevy to Check all the facts before you decide, it gets very costly about 3 to 6 months in. Just take care in getting all the information and the truth before you sign on the line.
Looks awful nose heavy for a gas p.w. glad to see the cross hare grill coming back and the update on the tailgate. Keep it up ram!
I prefer the cross hair grill as well. Why change something that is working.
Why do the shaky GOVT motor fangirls sound like their pu$$ies itch?
Because their P0$ Silverado's & ZR2 suck compared to the mighty Ford Raptor.
Even with the camo, it looks better than any GM truck.
