2018 Detroit Auto Show: Everything You Need to Know

Ccl_6566jpg_38787739705_o

The 2018 North American International Auto Show that concludes Sunday in Detroit will be remembered for many things, not the least of which were the debuts of three all-new pickup trucks — two of which are direct competitors. In fact, if you can't ever remember two all-new half-ton pickups being revealed at the same show, that's not a surprise. We can't remember it happening either. Pickup truck makers usually do everything they can to make sure something like this does not happen. These are interesting times.

We gathered plenty of intel at the show about what will be coming our way during the next 18 months. So, we'll be busy; but more importantly, you'll be reading about some interesting pickups and technology. More to come.

Below are all the stories we posted from the show, including videos and photo galleries, just in case you missed them. We've also included car and SUV news from our colleagues at Cars.com.

It's clear the Ranger was the headliner & more to come soon;

https://www.msn.com/en-us/autos/news/spied-ford-ranger-raptor-caught-on-us-soil/ar-AAv81Hz?li=BBisPVf&ocid=spartandhp#image=AAv7YGD|9

The Ranger was so hyped up ,it fell short. I expected way more powertrian options, and not a litlle turbo gaspot.

It was clear the Furd Ranger was the joke of the show, no options no interest!

@ Johnny dltho that ranger is gonna make garbage motors cry. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

HA that lame thing called Ranger won't do nothing but be a sales failure! Which will cause your 5 year old butt to cry! HAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!

the Ford Ranger everybody wants one

@ Ecoboost Rules - I DON'T, I DON'T DRIVE JUNK.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

Chingon

I have faith in Ford that anything they put out will be the best including the Ranger.

I understand it will hurt your pride when the little 2.3 Eco-Boost in the Ranger will have better power and performance numbers than your full size V8 and get the best gas mileage.
Did you notice gas prices are going up again?

Just think how good the new Ranger Owners will feel getting the best gas mileage without sacrificing performance.

Why can't Ram come out with a small pickup?
Why can't Chevy correct the transmission issues with the Colorado?
The Tacoma is simply made cheap and generic, nobody wants a plastic bed.
The Frontier is simply out-dated
The Ridgeline is a Pilot SUV with a tiny bed.

Talk about brand brainwashed. I know you are a Ford employee, but simply wear blinders. What transmission issues on the Colorado, have only heard of minor shift programming issues that are solved with a reflash. Toyota is far from cheap. You are bragging about a truck you have never driven, but I will predict it has more of it's share of issues and recall's when it comes out.
Ford is no better than any other brand, yes the Ranger will sell, but it will have issues just as most mass produced vehicles have.

Oh and Ecoboost salesman, the ecoboost is the laughing stock of full size pick ups now. In the oil fields they are mad fun of by guys that need a real truck engine, not a pispot time bomb.

The Colorado doesn't have transmission issues, there are just too many Chingon type girly boys buying Colorado's and can't handle a truck that shifts hard from time to time. Must cause their hemorrhoids to flare up.

Shut up ramgirly !!!

Ram sucks too just like garbage motors trucks HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Looks Ram is paying good money for advertisements in pickup trucks.com. even page opening its RAM, articles its most RAM. ..

Hoping Ford comes up with a decent regular V6 for the Ranger. Not interested at all in Ecoboost but would consider one with a regularly aspirated v6 engine. I think the truck is a clever design. I dig the front bumper being metal and the inside, while plasticky, looks pretty good. Overall the truck seems capable. I would be interested in its dimensions, outside and in.

To me it's important how the dealers handle the service and warranty after the sale.
I am more in love with my Ford Dealer than Ford as a Company.
Maybe I do have a few repair issues with my F-150 Eco-Boost but it's always taken care of under warranty at no cost to me and is never questioned. I also get $30 oil changes.

It's much different at the Ram and Chevy Dealer where they blame ghost problems or it's normal for your Silverado to shimmy and shake at 45 mph saying they ALL do that! That chrome peeling off and that dashboard warping on your Ram is caused by operator abuse and NOT covered under warranty and oil changes are $180 for the Ram

Damn. No shots of the unveiled Sierra. Trudging on...

No resemblance to the Chevy. Rear looks so much better.
I like the flipped, chrome front bumper. No side curtain on front fender. No rear bumper steps. Square WW's.

I think they are reading my post's!!
My only excuse not to buy now is the B pillar door hinged ext. cab.
Maybe time to consider a crew cab.

F150 = JUNK
Ranger = JUNK

ALL THE COMBINED = GARBAGE, JUNK

Ford caps 'challenging year' with 19% decline in Q4 pretax profit

Ford sucks.

http://www.autonews.com/article/20180124/OEM/180129871/ford-caps-challenging-year-with-19-decline-in-q4-pretax-profit

LMBO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! More like discounting like crazy and push as many fleets down companies throats as they can! Them ecopops beer can trucks just aint selling for great profits. HAHAHA!!!!!!!!!

General Motors Co. (NYSE: GM) today announced solid third-quarter performance in all operating segments driven by robust results in North America and China, solid improvement in South America, continued growth of GM Financial and an intense focus on costs.

http://www.gm.com/investors/earnings-releases.html

FCA reports record results with Adjusted EBIT up 16% to €7.1 billion and margin at 6.4%, up 90 bps, Adjusted Net Profit up 50% to €3.8 billion, Net Profit up 93% to €3.5 billion. Net Industrial Debt nearly halved to €2.4 billion. 2018 Guidance confirms Business Plan key targets.

Only one down is Ford selling all that cheap just is it starting to pile up on them. LMBO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ford is 5 or 6 years ahead in technology and innovation that GM and Ram is struggling and spending hundreds of millions to keep up and retool.
Ford can sit on their butts and watch the profits come in without any new investments to improve, cause they are already the best.
Everybody else is following Ford with turbo's and aluminum
Ford can still make a profit even after giving a $15K discount on each truck.

Notice? Chevy and Ram keeps changing their trucks every year so they can try to keep up with the F-150.
You know that's costing them a lot of money to change the whole truck where Ford only has to spend a tiny bit of money to change the grill on the F-150

Chevy and Ram can't afford any discounts and you have to have rocks in your head to pay $10K MORE for one !

In the "winners/losers" section. Looks like Fiats new 1500 was the big winner and Chevy's Silverado the dud. I do think that Chevy's polarizing exterior will grow on people but the interior is being universally panned. Chevys are famous for mediocre to bad interiors and surviving this one would just be another day for Chevy. The good news is that if they ever do their act together an interior redo/touch up/refinement is relatively cheap and easy to do.

The new Chevy rocked the show. It had so many people in awe, quite amazing.

@ Lou 2

Thanks for proving my point that the new Ford's are shaking as well.....maube Lionel will stop bashing GM for this!!!!

LOL Ford Supduties aren't designed to go over 65 MPH?

Ford was so busy loading their pickup full of gimmicks... er... um... sorry, "innovations", that they forgot to fix that junk 4x4 system. Between me and 4 of my neighbors, we've gone through 14 pairs of IWE's since 2015. What a joke.

To me it's important how the dealers handle the service and warranty after the sale.

The small percentage of people that complain of "chevy shake" say it happens between 72 and 76 MPH, not 45 MPH.

And apparently this is how Ford handles a shaking problem:

"Dealership Tells A Man His Truck Isn't Designed To Go Over 65 MPH!"

Ford rep: "Bottom line is that truck is not designed to go over 65 miles per hour."
