Ford Sued for Alleged Diesel Emissions Cheating
Ford is being accused of installing emissions-defeat software in 2011-17 Ford Super Duty pickup trucks that allows the vehicles to emit illegal levels of nitrogen oxide and still pass emissions tests. Those accusations have resulted in a lawsuit being filed by the law firm Hagens Berman on behalf of Super Duty owners.
Reuters is reporting that Ford considers the accusation to be false, stating there are no defeat devices in its Power Stroke diesel engines.
The same law firm sued GM, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and Cummins Inc. for similar reasons since the discovery of the such defeat devices in certain diesel-equipped Volkswagen vehicles.
The suit — filed in the Eastern District of Michigan — also names the Robert Bosch company (the manufacturer of the high-pressure injection system and controlling software in the Ford turbo-diesel 6.7-liter V-8) in the suit; however, only F-250 and F-350 models are named even though the engine is available other vehicles.
When asked for a comment, Ford told us via email: "All Ford vehicles, including those with diesel engines, comply with all U.S. EPA and CARB [California Air Resources Board] emissions regulations. Ford vehicles do not have defeat devices. We will defend ourselves against these baseless claims."

Hopefully like Fiat its not the case. I guess after suing GM, and Fiat, Ford was the next step. See how it turns out.
Remember this one,

The shoe is on the other foot so watch what you say.
these are funny, most of the people I know who own them delete all the crap anyway, because there are no emissions testing on diesels it doesnt matter.

Hahaha. A-hole attorneys with way too much power. Good luck confronting the F-word.
According to Clint (the Ford version of Hemigoon) this is GREAT news. All publicity is good publicity. This is just a Class action suite. The findings are what will matter. In all likelihood Ford will probably buy their way out of this with a settlement which is easy for them as they still have all that gifted socialist taxpayer loans that they will never pay back.
We all knew VW couldn't be the only one. The only mystery is who else? how much? and whats the penalty? Fiat and Ford seem to have gotten their heads up onto this block. But hey if you can excuse them for being deadbeat welfare failures and false advertising, zero interest loan addicts, a little cheating wont bother you at all either.
MORE FORD JUNK, NOTHING NEW HERE .
FORD IS ALWAYS CHEATING AT SOMETHING.
Wouldn't it be nice if Washington got completely OUT of the auto business. The layers of regulation that Congress imposes on the car makers just adds to the cost of buying and owning cars.
Let the states manage it. If California does not want diesel pickups let the citizens of that state fight it out in Sacramento. Why does the rest of the country have to suffer the fools?
Them damn diesel are probably cleaner then the gas engines from all makers.
papjim: I agree for the most part--the self-governing free market would ensure the best product for the consumer base. Unfortunately pandora's box has no lid and we're stuck with giganto-government.

Is this what GM did when they got sued and
and we know how that bailout thing and corrupt bankruptcy went.
Them damn diesel are probably cleaner then the gas engines from all makers.

The Ford Ecoboosts for sure.....
OMG. Not this crap again, the new diesels are cleaner than most gas trucks for sure.
Pretty soon they will be suing everyone for high emissions on lawnmowers.
It's not like these trucks are belching any soot out the tailpipe, or even smell much anymore, why do they have to pick on diesel vehicles so much, even after they have achieved a huge improvement in cleaning up emissions.
Ford has issued a statement denying these charges,...
Ford said it, I believe it, nuff said....O.k. GM fan girls, back to pushing your GM's around the driveway.
Dang That's a sharp looking truck!!
WHAT A UGLY F@#$ TRUCK.
Everyone knows Ford cheats emissions. Just look at the hundreds of videos of stock eco turds blowing black smoke, I'm sure their power jokes are no different. Ford likes to be cheap and cut corners.
Oh I also remember the Ford dumb dumbs on this site going to town with comments when it happened to Fiat and Gm. Now they don't have much to say... Lol
I'm content to wait until the verdict comes in Then there will be a conversation to be had
That is one ugly F-150.
@ GMS, Since it is well known that you don't know s**t from shineola, that is the best compliment any Ford product could ever get
Thank you for the big thumbs up that means a lot
@GMSRGREAT..., You don't even know the difference between the Silverado 1500 and Silverado HD...
and we know how that bailout thing and corrupt bankruptcy went.

I certainly remember. Ford Motor Company CEO Alan Mullaly went in front of congress and pleaded for the government to bailout GM and Chrysler. THEN Ford played the "we didn't take a bailout" card while secretly accepting billions in loans (they still haven't paid those 0.01% interest loans back) and billions in grants from the DOE to fund their unreliable Ecobust engine development program. No wonder the Ecoboost is such an unreliable joke, it's government funded junk.

Stop picking on GMSRGREAT. He is my dad and my brother. I'm just rebelling because mom told me he's her favorite son.
why they dont work on the best slow pickup to pull a trailer..
@ Mike Jones
Do you understand the difference between a bail out and a loan? Not exactly a secret loan since you know about it as does the rest the American public anybody's got their eyes or ears open. Loans have terms that are set by the lender. Ford is complying with the terms.
Billions in DOE grants? Really? Care to share a source for that claim?
If the ecoboost was as bad as you say the sales would be declining not gaining
Any empirical data to support your opinion?
@GMSRGREAT..., You don't even know the difference between the Silverado 1500 and Silverado HD...

sure do, the Silverado HD represents the 2500 and 3500 series Silverados. Same model truck, just with greater capability. Wait are you suggesting that the Ford pictured above isn't a F-150? If so, why is there a different model truck used as the F-150?
That's your agenda there GRETTA...
@GMSRGREAT..., Instead of putting all of your intelligence on figuring out The Ford F-Series sales numbers..., You need to take a look in your Silverado's rear view mirror..., That's a Big Bad RAM that's gonna pass you..., You are gonna need all the capability and made-up numbers your Silverado's can muster to cover your agenda...
Here come your alter-ego characters..., Tell them to Post Responsibly and Behave

Haha! You see, up until out about 30 years ago, I was like you, blindly accepting the notion that Ford was #1 at what ever FORD said they were #1 at. But then I began questioning, researching and experiencing just how false the FORD #1 claims are. We all know GM sells more trucks even though Ford would have those who believe that FORD sells more. Sad really.
@GMSRGREAT..., You have been pushing your agenda for 30 years?!?..., How many people believe you?..., Maybe a dozen, but remember, those dozen people are your made-up character friends...
Why don't you rethink your agenda..., or else risk getting called-out by The Lawn Ranger...
P.S. Ford sold more half, three quarter, and one ton trucks than GM sold in 2017. (That oughta keep ya quiet for awhile.)
Oh I also remember the Ford dumb dumbs on this site going to town with comments when it happened to Fiat and Gm.

Spare me. I went back and checked the relevant posts when it happened to Fiat and GM, and the GM guys were already bashing Ford by the 2nd or 3rd comment in.
My advice, Don't buy a Diesel in less you absolutly have to. Gas can tow 19,000lbs so if you need more go for it. RECALL CITY FORD
DOWN SYNDROME FRONT END ON THAT SUPPE DOOTY

GM builds trucks, Ford builds trucks, GM sells more trucks. Any questions? Reread this factual statement.
This is nothing more than a lawyer group looking for a big payday. The lawyers have went after everything diesel. I can't think of one that they didn't go after including the Cruze diesel which has had no complaints by customers and was rated by GM and the EPA at the time of release as being the cleanest car built in the US. Since VW cheated lawyers have been digging for gold hoping to find another cheater. The aftermarket parts are the biggest problem and yet they aren't a big payday so they go after the big named companies hoping to squeeze a payday out.

@Chris
Seriously
You need to go back and read most of those comments not just one or two.
Guys like Fxdx, Blue man, Frank, Lionel, just to name a few. Bashing GM and Fiat.
I agree with Zippy just a bunch of lawyers found one company cheating so they are gonna to go after all the rest. If these allegations are proven false those lawyers should have to pay for all the expenses they caused these companies.

@what the heck
Maybe the tooth fairy can help them pay. Zero chance of that happening in our lifetimes.
Congress is all lawyers, the courts are all lawyers, half of the governors are lawyers.
Can we be serious for a moment?
I agree with Zippy 100%. Since the good ole USA has about 2% of the world's population, but about 50% of the world's lawyers, we see lawsuits like this (they need to make a living somehow right?). Remember when they tried to sue McDonald's for a couple of billion $ a few years back, because McD's was making everybody fat and unhealthy? Remember when the someone spilled hot coffee on herself and successfully sued for $7 million (claiming that she didn't know the coffee was hot). I think people generally realize that most lawyers don't really care about the clients they are representing, they just care about how they can enrich themselves. That certainly seems to be what is going on here, as well as the lawsuits against FCA and GM about their diesel engines.
Fecal Matter Cumpany always find a way to make inferior junk and deceit the consumer. I hope with those lawsuits they bankrupt the cumpany. Keep supporting junk and see where it gets you Fecal Female Fans.
