Survey Reveals Military's Favorite Vehicle
Posted by Mark Williams | January 30, 2018
The Ford F-150 is not only the most popular vehicle sold in the U.S. (more than 600,000 were sold in 2017), but it's also popular with members of the military.
According to a recent survey conducted by the United Services Automobile Association's car-buying service, the Ford F-150 is the most popular vehicle among all active and retired military service members.
The F-150 ranks No. 1 among the top 10 vehicles purchased by members of all five branches; however, the lists do show some diversity — they include more than pickup trucks.
Below are the top five vehicles by military branch, all model-year 2017, according to the USAA survey:
Army
- Ford F-150
- Chevrolet Silverado 1500
- Ram 1500
- Honda Accord
- Honda Civic
Navy

Pretty cool survey would like to see less Honda however.
Wise decision makers.
Too bad Special Forces use Toyota trucks and Land Cruisers overseas in combat zones!
I am a USMC Veteran and I choose the Toyota Tacoma!
@oxi
So does our enemies and the occasional used plumbers super duty
No Sierras on there? time for GM to cut them out.

Former Army MP CPT. I have a Ford truck (F250) and a Honda Acccord. The good stuff always rises.
First & second place again, also at the Rolex 24hrs of Daytona the Ford GT V6 also came 1st and 2nd beating the big block V8 Corvettes. LOL
Tomorrow article on construction workers and farmers favorite vehicle, day after that doctors and lawyers....

But, but but it's turbocharged.... ;(
Now show me a worthwhile survey.
Which vehicles do they use in the service to get the dirty work done?
I want to know what takes a beating and keeps going.
That's surprising! All the military guys around here drive Tundra's.

But, but but Frank, it's a V6 with just a couple of small hair dryers attached to the engine. LOL

This is what happens when a truck company can't build a competitive and reliable V8.
But it has two freeeekin turbos...... =(
NOT FAIR!!!
Competitive and reliable V8, 5.0 or 6.2 not competitive or reliable? Nothing’s perfect but they are just as good as anything else out there.
Can't build a V8? You mean one that uses gallons of oil, runs on one cylinder, trashed lifters, etc? Yeah, good job GM.

With similar results..... This F-Series domination is getting boring. I see your point.

Yeah, that 5.4 was atrocious. It led to the twin hair dryer V6s.

What happen to the Chevy Motto, "no replacement for displacement. LOL
There is no replacement for displacement.
@CT, the Sierra isn't going away, they sell way too many of them to the Ranchers up here, that are a darn good looking truck, and reliable as heck.
@GMSRGREAT..., You need to stop posting if you are gonna say your beloved GM can’t build a competitive and reliable V8...,
Post Responsibly and Behave...
Hey Blueman..., You a race fan? The Rolex24 starts the whole she-bang..., that enduro racing is crazy good..., it’s turning into a Formula1 sprint...
Lawn Ranger have you seen this 3 minutes race?

Surprised Jeep wasn't higher on the list. I see so many of them every time I visit Fort Bragg.

The the 6.2 liter powered Cadillac won the overall race. The Ford will have to put together a better season to take the GTLM class title away from the (big block 5.5 liter) Corvette. Just say'in.
Nice video Blueman..., that Ford GT is so impressive that IMSA hit it with a “Balance of Performance” penalty in 2016..., and it still won..., and it was the dominat car in the GTLM class this year..., it also set a lap record at Virginia Int’l Raceway..., the Ford engineers did an impressive job on the 3.5l turbo..., not to mention the aero package...
@GMSRGREAT..., You show your ignorance once again..., IMSA hit the Ford GT with a “Balance if Perfermance” penalty..., don’t post anymore...

Can you buy a Corvette with a 5.5 liter engine?

Poor Ford GT had some BOP imposed . Take a look at what the Corvette had to do for BOP. Don't post anymore.

@GMSRGREAT..., You are drinking the kool-aid again..., GM is the lowest common denominator in IMSA and relies on the sanctioning bodies to bring all else involved down with a BoP penalty..., the Corvette is nice, but it is no Ford GT/Porsche 911/Ferrari 488..., ha-ha..., You are gonna have to bring out a new made-up character to defend your agenda now...
Again..., Post Responsibly and Behave
@ GMRJUNK HEY STOP MAKING FOOL OF YOURSELF, STOP, PLEASE STOP.
Ah another thing nice job “FORD THE BEST NEVER REST”.
@GMSRGREAT..., You are getting mad again..., You know what that means...

I see Corvettes everwhere on street. Haven't seen a Ford GT or a Ferrari 488 yet. Doesn't matter because a detuned Corvette beats then both on the track.
@GMSRGREAT..., you posted the Corvette updated from March 2015..., Whoa there!!... Wait..., it is 2018!!! Why did you do that to yourself again??? C’mon..., you can do better than that...

There goes your ignorance, or is that just a lack of education. I'll let you pick.
@GMSRGREAT..., You have no defense of your fallacies..., just keep posting and think it makes you important..., make sure you get that last word in so it looks like you..., wait for it..., wait..., won something..., you are so easy to call out.., just open up and take in the whole/big picture..., you can do it...

I just posted an article to counter your defense of your Ford GT having BOP imposed against it. Your were totally ignorant of the horsepower drop that that the racing Corvette has imposed against it vs the current 650 hp and soon 755 horsepower small block engines available in current factory corvettes.

Try not to lose any sleep over it.
Amsoil Engine Masters Rules Released; Ford Motors Need Not Apply
One significant change from the original announcement is that there will not be a Chevy LS vs Ford Mod Motor engine shootout. Instead, it’s just a LS shootout, and there is no place in this year’s rules package for a team to enter a Ford 4-cam Modular engine. Two years ago, Mod Motors swept the top three places in their first year of eligibility but were not allowed in last year’s competition. LOL

@GMSRGREAT..., you proved my point by continually posting..., you go from Cadillac lmp to Corvette gtlm to Corvette production..., why don’t you just open up and admire all the manufacturers for factory cars/trucks and all racing teams/manufacturers??? Instead of just GM..., it makes you look..., well, you can do better..., you mentioned you are a mechanic..., you have some sort of training/education??? Right??? Is it 30 years??? Open up and contribute positively..., then we will not be getting on each other..., try it..., life is better!
But it has turbos, lol :D

It has been a pretty educational evening for you. Your welcome.
Sadly, you brought nothing to the conversation, not even one link to support your views.
@ Grnzel1,
Our enemies to our Constitution and Bill of Rights drive more GM, Ford and Dodge trucks... they are called liberals!
The only pickup truck to be credited with winning a battle/war was the Toyota truck!
Just ask the Libyan armored division that went up against 400 Toyota trucks and who won that battle!
Only 3 Toyota trucks lost and the entire armored division was lost!
you guys that trash the F-150 are missing out the respect you get from friends and family for owning one, especially an F-150 with the Eco-Boost!
I even get jealous 5.0 V8 F-150 owners that tell me they wish they would have picked the Eco-Boost
Even at the parking lot at the bank the other day a stranger walked up to me saying "Nice Truck"
I bet you guys with Silverado's and Ram's never experienced that
@Ecoboost Rules
That's gay. We don't do that.
.
@ Oxi and Clint..., While we can discuss who drives what...,
Thank You for Serving!!!
Hey Oxi..., I thought you are from Australia??? No?
So, this is a list of cars bought by members of USAA not the military in general. How are they able to extrapolate this out to say all members of the military?
So at it's base this article is just an ad for USAA.
The best never rests.
-F-150 #1 with the military
-Ford GT take First and second at Rolex 24 hrs at Daytona
Ford first, baby!
F150 = Military garbage
ANY QUESTIONS-ASK THE MILITARY
