Ford, Mazda Expand 'Do Not Drive' Recall of 2006 Ranger, B-Series Pickups

2006 Ford Ranger
Ford has announced a second high-priority recall involving approximately 30,600 model-year 2006 Ranger compact pickup trucks equipped with Takata non-dessicated airbag inflators. Ford is urging owners to immediately stop driving Rangers built at the Twin Cities Assembly Plant in Minnesota from Aug. 10, 2005, to Dec. 15, 2005, and from Aug. 5, 2005, to Nov. 4, 2005. Reuters is reporting that approximately 1,800 Mazda B-Series compact pickups built by Ford also are covered under this recall. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration calls the trucks an "immediate risk to safety" and recommends owners stop driving them immediately and get them repaired.

Ford and Mazda issued a stop driving warning in January and continued testing affected trucks; these additional recalls are a result of that testing. The Takata airbag inflators in these pickups have a higher risk of rupturing in the event of a crash than other Ranger and B-Series pickups.

Parts are now available to repair the pickups. Dealers will get the trucks directly from owners and provide a loaner if necessary, all free of charge. To find out if your Ranger is affected, check your vehicle identification number on the VIN checker at Ford's recall site. The Ford reference number for this recall is 18S02. Owners of B-Series pickups can use the VIN checker at Mazda's recall site. Owners also can call Ford at 866-436-7332 and Mazda at 800-222-5500.

It's nonsense arguing with u! U call it whatever u want. I have no time for a guy who bashes a company that has sold over 100 million small block V8s...and defending a company that really hasn't produced a great V8 (other than new 5.0) since the early 90s Windsor motors, but even they couldn't hang with a GM 350 motor!

So what do they do....they sell clowns like you Ford lies propaganda, stating that these eco-bust motors are so great and they aren't but you listen to Dennis Leary commercials and feed off it like a little kid in Toys R Us

I'M done with my rant, apologize to people but had to get it out!!! I am not an eco-bust fan and tired of clowns thinking there the greatest engine!!! They stink!!! buy the coyote 5.0

@TNTGMC
I don't call it what I want , I call it what is. Sorry that facts get in the way of your arguments.
As for your exhale rant, it is rather telling. Your just plain brand hostile. At some point in time you somehow got dun wrong by a Ford, or spanked.
Somewhere along the way you forgot this thread is about Ford Ranger Takata air bag recall. Why is there a recall, because there are appreciable number of these great tough Rangers on the road. Something that cannot be said about GM S series pickups in the same years, they have for the most part been scrapped or rotting on blocks in a field or behind a building. You may not like this but it is what it is. As for Ecoboost F series, well the numbers tell the real story. If it were a poor product it would not be selling in ever increasing numbers. Bad news travels faster than stink. There is a lot less stink than you think.
Life is too short, go out and enjoy your life, your wife and your truck.

Second- Ford is bringing Ranger to Market and that is trouble for GM.
Third- the Ford Ecosport is here.
Fourth- the Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator are totally killin it! Can't make them fast enough.

Second:
Ford is bring a Ranger 4 year later, with only ONE engine and transmission option. And that engine option is an overboosted inline-4 that in its current implementation, has only made its rated power output with 93 octane and has issues running relaibly on 87 octane in the summertime. The Ranger 4 years late and a dollar short at this point.

Third:
The Ecosport is here? Did the boat from India finally arrive? That is the compact SUV that's being built in India and shipped to the US, right?
" The Ford EcoSport became the first vehicle made in India to be sold in the U.S. when it quietly went on sale this month, arriving a little late to the subcompact crossover party."

Fourth:
"Killing It" huh?

Ford Expedition Jan 2018 sales: 3,439
vs
Chevy Suburban, Tahoe Jan 2018: 12,435
GMC Yukon Jan 2018 sales: 4,389

Lincold Navigator Jan 2018 sales: 1,288
vs
Cadillac Escalade Jan 2018 sales: 2,241

Wow, yeah really "killing it" HAHAHA!

FORD did not get bailout money nor did it go bankrupt. FORD did get loans, loans that FORD is following the terms of.

Yeah, Ford is just following the terms of their welfare check.. err um.... "loan".

Ford got a loan at an interest rate that doesn't even keep up with inflation. They STILL haven't paid that loan off even though they could have years ago. Why would they? It's free money, especially 10 years later. Corporate welfare is the term you're looking for.

@TNTGMC, aka Brick

GM was the only Detroit based auto assembler to post a loss in 2017.

$3.9 billion loss for 2017. But hey, keep ranting about stock price Brick, err, TNTGMC, errr papajim.

I'm not TNTGMC. I've been commenting on this website for years you idiot.

And the only reason they posted that loss is because of the massive changes in tax laws. But I guess all of that is a little over your tiny little head.

Oh here's a second source:
https://www.bloomberg.com/view/articles/2018-02-08/how-a-tax-cut-handed-gm-a-5-billion-loss

Since all of this is a "rant" to you, maybe you should head on down to your local library. Maybe a smart person might walk in that can help you comprehend what's it's saying.
The key part to take away from this is: tax laws changed this year, tax write-down became the best long-term strategy, and if not for the one time write-down, GM made $9.9 billion in profit.

"Excluding one-time items, GM made a $9.9 billion profit, or $6.62 per share, the greatest since leaving bankruptcy in 2009. The earnings beat Wall Street estimates. Analysts polled by FactSet expected $6.33 per share. Full-year revenue was $145.6 billion, which also topped expectations."

In case you forgot: GM stock is up nearly 20% in the last 4 years, Ford stock is DOWN 40% in the same time period. Great job Ford hahaha!

Except that Ford is continuously shrinking the availability of an alternative to the Ecoboost. You can't even buy an Expedition or Navigator with a V8 anymore. OF COURSE THE NUMBER OF ECOBOOST TRUCKS AND SUV'S IS GOING TO GROW, THERE ISN'T AN ALTERNATIVE YOU IDIOT!

@ GM blow chunk

Your whole comeback was useless....u don't understand sarcasm...u call it "loan"......FORD took money also!!! Get it straight!

I responded to your comment, so u need to stay on track. I'm not a brand loyalist. I'm a realist! Knowing that a V8 that has a reputation behind it as the 5.3L or any small block from GM, and u trying to state that a motor 2.7L is better is absurd! I would have done it if you were talking about the 5.7L Hemi or even the 5.0L from Ford. Both are great engines!

Btw...like Brick just pointed out....why is Ford not charging more for the eco-bust? Now they upcharge more for the 5.0L!!! Ironic, I think not!

Rangers are “tough”?

And just like that you lost any shred of credibility you had.

@ GM Blows Chunks
DONT WORRY I'M BLINDED BY THE BLUE OVAL JUNK TOO....
HAHAHAHAHAHA. WHEN I CAN GET A JOB I WILL BUY A REAL TRUCK... HAHAHAHA
THE REAL CHINGON DEL COOCOO.
