2018 Ram 4500, 5500 Chassis-Cab Trucks: Recall Alert

2018 Ram 4500 Chassis Cab

Vehicles Affected: Approximately 2,500 model-year 2018 Ram 4500 and 5500 chassis-cab trucks

The Problem: The primary and secondary brake hoses located between the brake master cylinder and the hydraulic control unit may have been manufactured without anti-corrosion plating on the ferrules, which can allow the ferrules to corrode. If the ferrules corrode, brake fluid could leak and cause loss of braking, increasing the risk of a crash.

The Fix: Dealers will inspect the brake hoses and replace them if necessary for free.

What Owners Should Do: Parent company Fiat Chrysler Automobiles will begin notifying owners June 20. Owners can call the automaker at 800-853-1403; the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit NHTSA's website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.

Odd....

All the GMTrolls are silent on this recall. We all know that if this had anything to do with Ford, comment after comment would be a bashing of Ford.

Good job Ram on fixing the brakes, mucher better job than those Fords that are 100% junk and unfixable, my dad's brakes on his F150 we're trash and would never work hahaha.

Ford = Junk

It looks like I jumped the gun...

The GMTROLLS are out and once again don’t disappoint

Great indeed. Ram + GM > Ford hahaha

Another RAM with a brake problem. It must be in the DNA.

recall, recall, recall, anybody got one?
Oh ya, RAM!

Hey look at the bright side. You get free refills on that RAM brown punch they pass around at the dealership waiting area. lol

Deadly junk RAMS need to be sent to the scrap yards!

Huh? A recall for this? What about the millions of GM trucks that had rusted brake lines, why weren't the recalled? I know it well because my former GMC Sierra 1500 had a brake failure due to a rusted brake line the ruptured under a hard stop.

NO GUTS.

NO GLORY.

NO BRAKES.

BEND OVER,

RAM !!

@ redbloodedxy Good one bro HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! That’s Hilarious 😂.

👍

@ redbloodedxy - You must be proud that someone like Chingon ( BOY GENUS ) is on your side and agrees with you.

As a F-150 Eco-Boost Owner I agree the brakes are a weak spot only because Ford uses cheap rotors.
But there are aftermarket rotors out there that correct that problem.
........but the Eco-Boost engine is so wonderful makes up for that with the extreme power, performance with the best gas mileage that nobody else could match.

I just don't understand why anyone wouldn't want an Eco-Boost with 475 ft lbs of torque made just above idle speed
You can pull a 10,000 lb trailer at 70 MPH at 1200 RPM

next time you're pulling a mountain with your Dodge at 70 MPH look at your tachometer and tell me what RPM's you're pulling?

My Eco-Boost is pulling less RPM's than you are even with the same load and same speed

Opinion: I am much more proud of you for satisfying your need to tell me this. You're my hero.

Odd....
