MLB All-Star MVP Has Talent But Commits an Error

BR7I8390[3]A II

In case you missed the 2018 MLB All-Star Game, you missed a good one, with a record 10 home runs and the American League All-Stars beating the National League All-Stars, 8-6 in the 10th inning.

In his first All-Star Game appearance, the MVP award went to Alex Bregman, a strong infield player who was instrumental in winning his AL Houston Astros the 2017 World Series (against the NL's Los Angeles Dodgers). Bregman hit a home run in the 10th inning to break a 5-5 tie.

As is custom for the last several years, Chevrolet awards the MVP a choice between a new car and a new pickup truck — this year between the pavement-loving Camaro SS and a trail-ready Colorado ZR2. In a stunning and confounding move, the young ballplayer did not choose the pickup. Oh well; we'll just chalk that up to a rookie error.

Pictured along with Alex Bregman is Brian Sweeney, U.S. vice president of Chevrolet; Kevin Burkhardt from Fox Sports; and MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred (holding the crystal bat).

I disagree. He made the right choice. No respectible rich white man will be seen in a midsize pickup.

As if you could go wrong with either decision, or that Bregman probably doesn't already have nicer vehicles than those already.

either one is best in its class....so u can't go wrong!!!

I'd take the SS camaro. What a pavement pounding, asphalt eating machine. That right there is a super car in muscle clothing!! Sexy

Depends on the girls you want to date.

Today I lean toward the girls who love kids, dogs, hunting/fishing, trucks, jeeps and meeting at church on Sunday mornings.

When I was younger I wanted to meet girls at parties and bars. The Camaro would have been my ideal ride back then. A Camaro with a 455 hp engine would have filled the bill perfectly. The girls would have liked it too.

I'd choose the same. He probably already has a pickup. That or he just doesn't need one. Pickups aren't fun to drive so why would you want one if you have no need for the bed or towing? The Camaro is kind of a lame prize too though. Why not make it a corvette?

If it was me I wouldn't let anyone know I don't like anything Chevy makes and I would hold my nose and fake it about being excited and would take the Camaro cause it's more expensive because I would quickly sell it and use the money to buy a Ford Mustang.

@Beebe

I cannot believe you said that!
This is what happens when people own Ford pickups. Friends don't let their friends drive Fords.

He is from New Mexico, probably got tired of looking at sand and cactus's and figured if he had the truck he would be expected to go drive in it. Either that or he already has a desert runner.

David Eckstein was an MVP, they gave him a Corvette and it sat in his dad's garage for years, cause he did not know how to drive a stick shift....

Papoojim
I drive a pickup for work and for my lifestyle. I use the bed to haul my tools every single day. I tow 3-4 times a week. I currently own four trucks. You apparently drive a truck as a status symbol. Must be one of those that drives a truck to compensate for something. There is nothing better about driving a truck. It's not as comfortable, not as fast, not as fun as a good sports car.

Scratch Beebe off the list. First rate jerk

Good choice, I would not want that Coloraaaado...

That really blows, not much to pick from.....it's like:

Would you like the fish or the fish?

All stars don't drive Fords, they don't ride/want to be seen in rolling s$%^t boxes like Ford produces!

He gave it to his mom, which in later, will sell it at a 100% profit.

He gave it to his mom, which in later, will sell it at a 100% profit.

Good choice. I'd be embarrassed to drive either of those vehicles.

nah he took camaro and got rid of his junk rustang! We all know what is the better car. Its been proven by every magazine!

And I quote: Chevy has built a super car for the price of a muscle car!!! Too bad blue oval is always following! Lol

Of course he picked the Camaro he didn't want to be seen in a pansy colorado pretender. That guy has a Raptor and knows he already has the best!!

Speaking of pansy truck the Craptor don't come with a front locker, talk bout pansy. Keep them Ford craptors in the mall parking lot so the plastic front hubs don't break. LMBO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@ full size

Its terrible that a mid size truck that costs almost half the price, has beaten your plastic 4x4 truck in a comparison. That's funny and sad all at the same time. Lol

But hey, you guys have a HUGE Raptor sticker on the side of the truck trying to prove your manly hood!! Haha

Wrong choice? He gave it to his Mom. He said his Dad wanted the pickup and his Mom wanted the Camaro. He went with the Camaro for his Mom.

Sounds to me like he made the right choice. Why does pickuptrucks.com hate Moms?

Yea, sometimes you have to take the long way to the mall.

The Camaro was a great choice, after all, it is the best performing, best looking muscle car available from an American manufacturer.

@Lefty54 -- Just to make sure there's not misunderstanding, PickupTrucks.com does not hate moms but we do prefer pickup trucks. And we know a lot of moms who love and drive pickup trucks. No question the Camaro would be fun for a little while, but everyone knows you can get more done in a pickup, even a midsize.

correction, 3rd baseman... My bad.

Rookie error? It's a Chevy. I'd pass on both, but that's just me. Been there, done that. Big regrets.

I mean his choice, so oh well.
Kind of drives home the desirability of the Colorado, even in ZR2 trim.
GM has had some serious issues with execution. They can get close, but never quite there.
V8 FWD cars with horrible handling dynamics. IFS HD trucks that actually ride WORSE than the updated and refined multi-link solid front axle competition. Sedans that no-one buys because they are underpowered, handle like a toboggan, are straight out of the early 90s Chrysler and Ford design studios.
In real-life, the 2019 Silverado looks like a Tundra. The 2wd models sit so low they look like a lowered Tundra. No joke, I saw one in Globe AZ, with a manufacturer’s plate, towing a horse trailer with a General Motors DOT sign in it. It was fueling up at the US60/70 intersection at a Giant station. It used the diesel pumpC then headed up the steep grades of the salt river canyon to Show Low, Az. Sad looking. I towered over it in my “other guys” STOCK 3/4 ton. Truth be told, I didn’t chase him up the hill because I didn’t want to get smoked by that 1/2 ton diesel.

Papa Jim, just 455 hp? Wouldn't 485 hp he better, with more torque?

In a car that actually has some room in the back.

Only because Ford gimped the front suspension. And guys wonder why newer Superduties have so many death wobble issues at such low mileage.
