The 2018 One-Ton Heavy-Duty Truck Challenge Is Coming
In our never-ending quest to provide you with the most useful pickup truck information in the most readable and easily understandable formats, we'll be experimenting with our upcoming comparison test: the 2018 One-Ton Heavy-Duty Truck Challenge. Next week we will publish photo galleries of our 4x4 crew-cab competitors; full results, towing evaluations and an explanation of how we test will publish July 30.
Rest assured this Chevrolet versus Ford versus Ram test will include our full battery of track, towing and fuel economy tests along with expert judges' evaluations but in a new, more focused format. We'll be looking for your feedback to help fine-tune future Challenges, so make use of our comments section to let us know what you think.
The photo gallery of our first combatant, the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 High Country, will publish Monday; the others are scheduled for Wednesday and Friday. All we can say at this point is this Challenge was a close one and one of the best apples-to-apples contests we've conducted in a long time. More to come.

There's going g to be a lot of butthurt GM fanboys.
Ford wins. GM fangirls have been using the Shootout Scare to bully Ford and their customers.
Enough is enough.
If Ford and Ram beat GM, papa will be like Sgt. Schultz: “I see nothing! Nothing!” Then he'll bring up stock prices.
Dually or srw?
Results can't be much different than last year. They are basically the same trucks...Ford will win with a more refined interior lol

GM will win most, if not all measurable performance tests, but lose in subjective categories. Same old, same old.

It just goes to show you that there is more to a Truck then just what is under hood.
"Make use of our comments section"?? Nothing but a bunch of immature kids posting in the comment section. Seriously
Last year:
Both heavy haulers offered options and features that will benefit owners who tow, but after towing with both it was obvious that the Ford had the advantage of having more of the good stuff inside and underneath. That's not to say the GMC wasn't a comfortable, confident tow rig — it was especially nice on rough and twisty roads with the HD independent front suspension — but when put side by side, our judges favored the heavier and stronger Ford.
----
Exactly. And whoever wins this time again I will take the stronger Ford.
"Make use of our comments section"??
Yeah i thought that was pretty funny too. Although I'm sure they make use of the comment section to find out what articles gets people's blood pressure the highest! LOL!!!
The only comment I would make here is that the last time we did one-tons we had the duallys. These are all single-rear-wheel. We'll have all the weights, gearing and performance numbers for you see when we go live with the full story. You'll be able to see each truck next week in full detail when we publish our photo galleries.
I would include the F-150 Eco-Boost cause it has a 3260 lb payload and 14,700 lbs towing.
Not ONLY can the F-150 match the Super-Heavy Duty trucks in payload and towing the 3.5 Eco-Boost Engine would leave them in the dust !
@ ecoturd
Are you on crack?? Or just can't comprehend? Your ecoturd can't tow 14,700lbs, how many times do we have to go over this? You don't even know what your truck is rated..LOL!
It just goes to show you that there is more to a Truck then just what is under hood.

Nothing like admitting to being second or third place behind the Duramax.
An ecoboost in an HD comparison? No chance, that little truck would get crushed by any of those trucks.
How can Fiat be even considered for the test
Engine made by another manufacture Cummins
Transmission made by Toyota
so what is made by dodge the chrome emblem

That's exactly what I was thinking. Just because Ford has all the silly gadgets. Even though GM will out perform it in most categories that actual mean something for an HD TRUCK.! I hope they actually tried loading up the Ford to it's ridulous tow rating capacity to see how safe they felt.? Lol

@Mr Q
You're gonna look pretty silly if RAM takes the top honors

This moron can't read.
There are no losers, all these trucks are great and do what customers want them to do!
Can't wait for the comparison. Hopefully they all have the same gear ratio. love the look of the new HD's. That hood scoop is menacing coming down the road. Wish they offered it for the half tons.
FORD WILL WIN OF COURSE.

Actually, I meant to share this little story yesterday but with the above comment, this is probably a more opportune time. My wife and I almost took the front clip off of a current gen F-150 yesterday. This F-150 had one of those badass 20 or 22 ft seadoo wake boats in tow. As the F150 was approaching a stop sign, perpendicular to the direction of travel of my vehicle, the truck rolled past the stop line and I had to make an emergency maneuver to avoid a collision. Moral of this story? Half ton trucks may have the ability to tow weight but they do not have the braking power and suspension to control that weight as that of a 2500 or 3500 series truck.
So Ford and Ecoboost Rules, give up misleading the public.
NO QUESTIONS ASKED. AND THE GARBAGE MOTORS FAN GIRLYS ARE GONNA TO BE CRYING 😢 LIKE LITTLE WUSSIES. JUST WAIT!!!!
Caught with hand in the cookie jar of using multiple user names.

You must have forgotten about Frank.
GM will win all measurable and lose the sunbective like every single test ever done buy PUTC...
Example:
GM wins breaking 60-0 loaded by 36 ft.;
Ford 19
GM 20
Ram 10
GM wins 0-60 loaded at Max by 2.5 seconds
GM 19
Ford 20* (we felt like the Ford accelerated better just did it slower)
Ram 10
Ford has more electronics;
GM 1
Ford 115
Ram 10
Color of Interior
Ford 547.6
GM 9
Ram 67.9
And so on....
@ BA or fake BA
I don't use others user names....I've said this time and time again. Grow up and stop being childish and posting under others names. U vam see from the posts which one is the fake TNTGMC...I.e. You using my name. Your a clown. Get off the site and let everyone else debate and discuss in piece. You Leach!

Uhhhh. It seems you forgot GM went bankrupt. That’s text definition of loser.
@Mark Williams
US Pickups in general have been a niche in Australia. HD Pickups were the mainstay of that niche, now it appears to be shrinking even further due to other factors not great for the convertors who have set up production lines in some cases

Just like you, the fake BA. As well as GMS, Sean, papajim, Brick...
Ford's s%^&t box truck will be crub stomped by GM and Ram, you heard it here first!
What is it with GM Shills atrocious grammar and poor English skills?
Is stupidity a prerequisite to be a GM Shill?
Don't forget, every company Ford aquired had sales figures that fell through the floor.. Volvo, jaguar, Mazda, Aston Martin. Now most of those companies are in Indian hands like To Ta motors. All of Ford's small motors come from Mazda not Ford.. and Ford's truck sales stats are 20- 30 years old.. not current. And Ford took 10 billion dollars from the government to keep from going under as well.. Ford is junk and always will be.
^^^^
Thanks for proving stuptis a GM Shill hallmark.
@ BA and Frank
Your both clowns and an embarrassment to yourselves. Do us all a favor and jump ship.
By the way. I agree with Daniel Clark and I have said it...Ford is #1 with Government Welfare. They are junk!
Posted by the real TNTGMC....
I don't need to use others names bc I'm not a Coward!! Pathetic leaches!
I understand.
If anyone would do a heavy duty truck challenge test with the F-150 the F-150 would make the heavy duty trucks look bad.
I understand that's the reason it will never happen.
I mean Ford would never trash their own F-250 by allowing a comparison test with their own F-150.
It's sorta like fake news where they don't report on the real story, or tell you only half of the story.
At the local county fair they have tractor sled pulling and the F-150 Eco-Boost showed up giant farm tractors by pulling the sled faster and further
Everyone I know are ditching their Super Duty F-250's for a F-150 cause it tows and hauls BETTER !
Local Ford dealer allows you to test drive a F-150 hooked up to a 10,000 loaded trailer
I know the truth

GMSRGREAT
You can special order a new F-150 with heavy duty towing AND when you order heavy duty payload you have to get the heavy duty suspension option with it AND both F-150's come with heavy duty brakes with bigger rotors and calipers.
With the right options you can get 14,700 lbs towing and 3260 lbs payload configured with a new 2018 F-150
Most people pick a truck from the dealers lot that don't have the heavy duty options cause they want the soft suspension smooth ride.
The truth !

"Not designed to go over 65 MPH.." what an inferior truck. Death wobbling front end, weak tin foil bed in the back, brakes worse than a GM down the mountain with 22k lbs hooked up to it, slower than a GM truck up the mountain with 22k hooked up to it. It'll be a real laugher to hear Ford's excuse this year when the Superduty has its pants pulled down yet again.
It just goes to show you that there is more to a Truck then just what is under hood.
Posted by: Frank | Jul 20, 2018 1:51:03 PM
And there isn't shiit under the hood of a Superduty worth talking about. And the bed is so weak it's a j o k e to call a Ford a work truck. And that death wobbling front end has been a real laugher lately. Ford wanted their oxcart front suspension to ride nice so badly that they built a truck that isn't designed to drive over 65 MPH...
