Ram Goes Cowboy (Again) With New HD Longhorn Ram Rodeo Edition
Ram introduced a new heavy-duty special edition at the 2018 State Fair of Texas. Called the Longhorn Ram Rodeo Edition, the new package includes many of the most popular features found on Ram's top-of-the-line 2500 and 3500 models.
Creating and promoting special editions seems to be Ram's greatest strength lately, as they provide more options for customers. The most recent special editions have been the Ram 1500 Rebel 12 and the Ram 2500 Power Wagon Mojave Sand. Now we have the Longhorn Ram Rodeo Edition for the HDs.
The Longhorn Ram Rodeo is another interpretation of the cowboy themed pickup with plenty of luxury features. It's similar in some ways to the Laramie Longhorn Southfork introduced last year. The Longhorn Ram Rodeo features a headliner made from soft-touch suede and a leather interior of contrasting Black and Cattle Tan. The truck will bear the Longhorn name stretched along the tailgate in all capital letters, and it will be offered in six colors: RV Match Walnut Brown, Brilliant Black Crystal, Bright White, Pearl White, Delmonico Red and Granite Crystal Metallic. All single-rear-wheel models will have 20-inch alloy wheels, while the 3500 dually models will get allow 17-inch rims.
Standard equipment on the Longhorn Ram Rodeo includes a fifth-wheel/gooseneck trailer prep package, a bed-view camera and a class-exclusive supplemental rear air-suspension load-leveling system. Longhorn Ram Rodeo Editions can be had as crew or Mega cabs in 4x2 or 4x4 configurations; the 6.4-liter Hemi V-8 is the standard engine and the turbo-diesel 6.7-liter Cummins inline-six-cylinder is an option.
Pricing for the 2018 Longhorn Ram Rodeo Edition will start at $62,485 for 2500s and $72,955 for 3500s (prices include destination). It will be available this fall at dealers.

Ok all you spinach-eating Prius drivers---the line starts here!
Do you notice?
It looks like that dashboard video display got thrown into the dryer on the "cotton" setting.
Whuh????

--- Seems like somebody can't recognize a nav screen when they see one.
It's only money.

@vulpine
My Chevy pickup is so old the tiny little screen is made of papyrus.

--- It has a screen? Then clearly it's not all THAT old!
@papajim: Just found out my Colorado has arrived! A couple days to detail and install the dealer add-ons and I'll be taking delivery.
@ Vulpine
Congrats on your purchase. Enjoy
What trim did you get and options?

Z71 in Pacific Blue... pretty much loaded except for Nav. Apple Car Play and an iPhone gives me an automatically-updating Nav system using either Apple Maps, Google or WAZE as the navigator.
Ah, disappointed that the new Cummins with possible graphite block was not shown yet. One more year.
"Again" Exactly, again and again and again, same old crap. More lipstick on a pig. Where is the electric drive versions?
Paul,
Ford just announced at the Fair their hybrid f-150 will be built in Michigan.
Along with 40 new electrified models by 2022.
Several on this page are being proven wrong about electrification.
The F-150 hybrid will be built alongside the gas models, which means it will not be diesel hybrid. Bummer.
I was looking forward to 40 mpg in a half ton.
Well, 30 mpg will have to do.
GM will have to pair that I6 diesel Duramax with a generator/alternator to be the first 40 mpg half ton.
And with Cummins announcement of an electric semi with a diesel range extender, maybe RAM will be the first one ton with 33 mpg Cummins and 1000 lb feet of torque!
Does Papajim ever get tired of eating crow?
The Ford executive even said the F-150 hybrid will power campsites.
Papajim directly refuted that would happen this week, and then the CEO says it in the headline.
Yikes, papa. Yikes.
@david
DO NOT characterize my comments unless you can do it accurately. Since that's not in your playbook, please cite a specific comment with quotation marks. Either do that, or let the rest of the commenters know that you're full of S**T
Since your memory is failing, one commenter said trucks that power campsites are the way to go.
You said that will not happen.
Ford CEO says it will happen in Michigan.
Easy enough for you to get?
Yah, why is that display so small. I thought the high end models defaulted to HUGE vertical display.
Pacific Blue sounds pretty. My B2000 was a Blue Metalic. Always liked the blues. Saw some guy heading to the Pleasanton car show with his convertible '68 Z28 one Sunday morning while I was running my route. Helped him snap his convertible cover on since it was really a tight fit. The cover that makes it nice and covered when the convertible is down. I asked him what the color of the car and cover was called. He said they named it after Lake Tahoe. Ie Tahoe Turquoise. Yah, it was nice!
Just saw an Embassy Suites Hotel Parking lot retrofitted with a whole row of Tesla Charging stations. I thought at first it was 2-3, but after a double take it was at least 10. Maybe even 12 or so. I'll count next time.
I guess Embassy Suites by Hilton's started rolling them out in 2016:

Yeah, the word PACIFIC sounds good. But when I went to the Mediterranean I found that it was a far more beautiful blue. The limestone kind of glows through it. I was surprised. The pacific is kind of dark and cold.
the verdict is in: David is full of S**T
unable or unwilling to quote the specifics of the offending remark I made. Actually I can think of a long list of offensive ways to describe David's behavior but instead I'll ignore it.
Carl said that trucks will be used to power campsites.
You said:
-
Seriously Carl. Don't you think that consumers and producers can decide for themselves what they want in regard to features?
And then the CEO of Ford said the new F-150 will power campsites.
He even used that WORD--campsites.
You were completely wrong.
And you have been a complete electrified truck nay sayer.. And now you deny it.
But we all know you are not here because you care about what is true(ore can even remember what you even said), but you are just here to argue and use this place as you personal attention getting avenue.
Just admit it, papa. You need to get out more often.
@Joe

Most BEAUTIFUL BLUE I'VE EVER SEEN!
James Bond 007 filmed a movie on the island.
Yah, Did triathlons in Santa Cruz, Santa Barbara, and San Francisco Bay, and water tasted like car exhaust. Almost threw up swimming from Alcatraz. Water is cold and not pretty at sea level, but if one fly's over it it gets prettier, so I still love my west coast.
Seriously Carl. Don't you think that consumers and producers can decide for themselves what they want in regard to features?
@David
What drugs are you taking, that would translate my comment (above) into the "campsites" riff you were using.
Goodbye Frau Himmel!
You were arguing that trucks should not be and can't power campsites, and that producers know no one wants them, and that no one wants them.
He was arguing that they can and should.
Everyone knows that, except you who can't bear to admit when you are wrong.
The CEO even said the WORD campsites, and that is sooooo funny, that you try to back out of something soooooo directlyo wrong. The CEO directly contradicted your analysis of what producers know they want to make and consumers want to have.
But you will always keep filling the comment sections with false and totally OFF comments just to get attention, and never admit when you were so directly perfectly wrong. Because you can't get more perfectly wrong than the CEO of Ford negating exactly what you said.
David, Carl, I hate you guys.
I don't hate them. I hope they get professional help.
For the people that are commenting about the screen size, the 12" screens are in the new RAM's, this is still the (current) old model.
@woopud
Oh. And I totally overlooked that this is HD model too.
I counted 14 Tesla chargers at the Embassy Suites by Hilton.
Do you notice?
It looks like that dashboard video display got thrown into the dryer on the "cotton" setting.
Whuh????

Looks better than any G.M. truck EVER did.
Sooo RAM why don't you offer this interior for the original do it all truck. Haul the live stock. Dig the fence posts. Plow the fields. POWER WAGON the O.G. Farm truck.WTF?

that's like saying your pe*ker has ears. It does not make it cute.
Surething plapajim, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=op5WpdVwjlY
Ram is on its own level. Ford and Chevy are left playing catchup again. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vp05al2qoPI
The center console should just get wider and wider so the front seats will no longer be needed. Seems ridiculous how big the center console is becoming.
@jebsdaddy
Yah, Center console is huge.
A lady at work was driving her husbands Ram 2500 extended cab around. I asked her how she liked it. She said it is too big. Her Honda Civic was getting a tire changed. Yah, I think the bloatedness of these full sizers has made space for the midsizers to gain in market share. Midsizers seemed to show a kind of growth flatness about 1-2 years ago, but the numbers are already showing a different story for midsizer growth this year. Hence, potentially influencing manufacturers to focus more on midsize product category or at least take steps to strategically plan on minimizing frontal area of full-sizers so they can play into a midsizer category.
@ Hemi V8
I agree with u on interior but whole truck isnt better and isnt selling that well. Thats why they have rebates over $10k on brand new 2019s right now. Not so dominating like you might think!?!?
Did I read correctly that a supplemental rear air leveling suspension is standard? I know this is available on the 3500 SRW but does this mean it's also available on the coil sprung 2500? I wrote to RAM years go indicating this would be a great setup to complement the coil rear - hopefully this is true....
'Anyone know for sure?
ScottH
@ScottH, yes Ram does have Exclusive air bags to their H.D. 2500 to level the load. Ford doesnt have it G.M. doesn't have it. Just one more reason to buy a class leading Ram packed with so many features the others do not have.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d_ykhJd4KwA
They need to change the ugly front grills
@ HEMI V* - thanks for the response. I was aware RAM had airbags in the rear for the 2500 and 3500. However, the word used above was "supplemental" rear air suspension. Supplemental meaning "in addition to". I know the 3500 offers supplemental air bags in the rear (not sure if this is for the DRW or if it also includes the 3500 SRW?). But I was curious is the term "supplemental" is being misused for the 2500? If it is supplemental, that would imply it has coils AND airbags (not one or the other). Any insight would be appreciated on that.

your obvisously a city boy. Campers and hunters enjoy having storage for all kinds of stuff. Toliet paper, shot gun shells, guns, first aid kit. The list is endless. Ram has more storage then anybody in fact you can thank Chrysler for the drink holders in your brand. Ram was the first to create a console for trucks for laptops etc.. Ram has always been an innovater.
Ram has always been ahead of the competition, Some things never change,

For those with "headliner envy" this will cover you.

Yes, Ram has both on the same truck. Steal coils in the front. Rear air bags to level the load.
