2016-2018 Chevrolet Express, GMC Savana: Recall Alert

2018 Chevrolet Express 2500
By Patrick Masterso
n

Vehicles Affected: Approximately 30,000 model-year 2016-18 Chevrolet Express and GMC Sierra vans equipped with a single, manual rear climate control module

The Problem: If the temperature is set to maximum heat or the mode knob is set to maximum floor vent and an electrical short occurs, components within the climate control module may overheat, increasing the risk of a fire in the vehicle's headliner.

The Fix: Dealers will remove the electrical insulation from a wiring connector within the climate control module to remove the fire risk for free.

What Owners Should Do: Chevrolet and GMC manufacturer GM did not immediately announce an owner-notification schedule. Owners can call Chevrolet at 800-222-1020, GMC at 800-462-8782, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.

What the heck, GM still building these dinosaurs?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA the DINOSAUR đŸ¦•!!!

People talk about Toyota not being able to get the Tundra right at 15 years. This van has been out for 30 years and still getting recalls. That said I still like it over some of the Euro junk.

"People talk about Toyota not being able to get the Tundra right at 15 years."

Toyota still hasn't figured out how to make a truck that won't rust rot even after 30+ years.

What is it with GM and fires

"Gee, I had hair BEFORE the delivery" Hahahahaha!!!

GM needs to step out of the Cambrian Period and update their milk truck.

What is it with GM and fires

@ Ford Drools

You have that backwards. Ford is known for fires

Show me the last recall GM had for a fire.....hmmm...not many

Instead your Halo half million dollar GT so called super-car is getting recalled for Fire..

That's bad!

@redbloodedxy

That's a truck that I love.

For me the perfect van would have an LS V8, comfy seats and a plain jane delivery style interior behind the driver. I'd probably cut a stiff piece of expanded metal to make a bulkhead between the driver and the freight.

This would be my woods truck, camping van and my long-range traveling ride.

TNTGMC

their's a sucker in every crowd

@ Ford Drools

I know, you got suckered into buying a Fire-150!! LMFAO

TNTGMC

i wrote it because i know you or pelosijim would come running to GM's defense sure enough who's the 1st to respond you
HAHAHAHAHAHA

"This would be my woods truck, camping van and my long-range traveling ride." -papjim

Now your milk truck is really showing.

@ Ford Drools

Still doesn't change the fact you got suckered into a Brand that is known for Fires!! Now that's funny!

Of course I would defend GM on this bc they aren't known for it.

Lets turn the table:

If I said something about Ford and ignitions switches you and some other Ford guy would defend that now wouldn't you!

And I would expect you to bc they aren't known for that debacle...which wasn't all GM's fault but a good portion of it was for sure!

What a dumb comment! Have you ever heard of words like update or modernize? Do you have any idea how many times this van been updated since 96?

Glad GM is taking care of it!

Well lets stay on topic. Just because TNTGMC like to take it up the rear doesn't mean the discussion should go off topic..

A common problem with these vans most every time I've driven behind one the rear tail lights and brake lights all messed up, shorting out or burnt out.

@ Brick

hey Idiot you forgot to sign in, others don't throw insults like you do, it's just you , you sure aren't the sharpest tool in the shed

14 million GM fireballs...yikes.

Let’s see that loser TNTGAY deflect again and insert Ford in n to this GM recall thread.

@ multiple personalities

You 2 guys have major issues! If you want to come to my office and seek medical help. I will do that for you, free of charge. That way I'll save both of you money so you can afford get your Fords fixed when they break down. Deal?

BTW....why are both of you so angry all the time.

And Brick, just admit you don't drive a truck. You come on here acting all big and bad, because its a get-a-way for you and your insecurities of driving a car!

As for calling me GAY? Well, sir/madam, I am far from that, but I am happy and light hearted!

@ Brick

Also, please read the article it says 1.4 Million not 14 million. Wow, you really need help. Again, I'm here for you little fella!

And they are recalling mostly the bullet proof 3.8 motors. Great motors.

how do you comprehend what you just posted " mostly the bullet proof 3.8 motors Great motors" yeah right but they are being recalled HAHAHAHAHAHA

i'm not angry i just like phuckin with you, you're as gullible as a 14 year old

@ Ford drools..aka multiple personalities

They are bullet proof you lost soul! There are more 3.8L motors out there with high mileage than any ford engine! Count on it.

Did you notice they are recalling motors from 20 years ago, can't say that about any ford motor from 97-2004...LMFAO...they don;t run that long!

How am I gullible as a 14 year old? Your intelligence is that of one I can tell. My offer still stands for you though, sir!

Bulletproof engine that leaks oil???

That’sthe weakest defending I’ve seen from TNTGAY in quite some time.

What a moron

This is the third recall for the same problem. Maybe they will get it right this time.

yep GM at it's finest

@ All you silly boys....or maybe the same person

Its not the engine that has the problem. Its the valve cover gaskets! Wow, All 3 of you guys really struggle!

Like I said, find me a Ford motor that's more durable than gm 3.8L!

And one of you can't even read, he still probably thinks its 14 million. And he criticized me the other day for grammar.........unreal! Please take your head out of your @$$

@tnt

"Did you notice they are recalling motors from 20 years ago, can't say that about any ford motor from 97-2004...LMFAO...they don;t run that long! "

Not true. The millions of 4.6L 2v motors in many cabs, police cruisers, limo service and trucks are some of the most durable motors produced by any car maker.

The 3.8L gm made with the supercharger for many Buicks was a real P O S that would always fail.

@ full size

I'll take a 3.8L over a 4.6L any day

The engine in the Buicks, grand Prix gtps, and Monte Carlo ss with superchargers didn't have issue with engine. The chargers were first to go out. Not engine.

@tnt

Yeah that was kinda obvious which engine you would pick, being that most fanboys are kind of biased (yes i know so are Ford fans).

You are wrong about the supercharger being the only thing that went wrong with those engines. They had lots of head gasket and intake manifold problems too, both supercharged and non-SC.

Washington DC has the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Be sure to make the visit! Show your national pride!

Dearborn Michigan has the monument dedicated to the unknown Ford owner whose 4.6 didn't need a new intake manifold. How in the world do Ford fanboys come to the defense of Modular V8s?

Talk to guys who work on cars/trucks for a living. they LOVE the 4.6 V8---it put their kids through school!

I'll take a 3.8L over a 4.6L any day.

Posted by: TNTGMC | Oct 17, 2018 1:51:51 PM

Those GM 3800 V6 engines had great off the line torque in NA version. Very reliable engines.

I'll take a 3.8L over a 4.6L any day.

Posted by: TNTGMC | Oct 17, 2018 1:51:51 PM

Of course you would, you're an uber idiot.
