2020 GMC Sierra 2500/3500: Spied
In the wake of Chevrolet's reveal of the 2020 Silverado 2500/3500 — and all the commentary, good and bad, the heavy-duty trucks' looks have elicited — our spy shooters have captured the 2020 GMC Sierra 2500/3500 pickups near GM's Milford Proving Ground in Michigan.

Some of them are not completely covered, so we can see the Chevrolet and GMC HDs will share platforms once again — just like GM's light-duty siblings. However, it does look like there will be several exterior distinctions. Here's what our shooters just sent us regarding the GMC three-quarter and one-ton duallys.
"A prototype for the 2020 GMC Sierra 2500 Denali dropped its camouflage for a run on public roads, revealing the headlight and grille design for the pickup's top trim level. The similarities and differences between the Sierra 2500 and Sierra 1500 are on display here. The Sierra HD's face looks more rugged than the light-duty Sierra 1500, with a chunkier grille and headlight treatment, but the heavy chrome finish still dominates this new prototype. We also see the Denali's LED taillights thoroughly revealed through the light camouflage mesh, leaving little to the imagination.
"Just as with the Silverado HD prototype, we can verify that the Sierra also will get the bed step integrated into the rear fender just aft of the cab. One of the Denali prototypes had a covered tailgate, likely shrouding a variation of the MultiPro six-way tailgate that's unique to the GMC truck lineup.
"We also got our first look at an uncovered GMC Sierra 3500 SLT dual-rear-wheel crew cab revealing a completely unique grille treatment for the sub-Denali trim level. The grille treatment is a thorough departure from the Sierra 1500. The horizontal slats have a unique 'open-slat' design along with additional detailing completely unique to the HD model.
"We also can now see the more chiseled design details applied to the wider dual-rear-wheel box. The wide-body design also incorporates the 'step side' seen on the Silverado 2500/3500 crew cab. We see that the integrated side step resides at the front corner of the rear fender — just aft of the crew cab's rear doors. The integrated side step will always be placed at the front-most corner of the rear box, regardless of bed length."

The more it changes the more it stays the same. The engine hood air inlet appears more thoughtfully integrated however it still robs frontal visibility. Hate the wheel wells. I like bumper/bed side steps but no when they are so dominantly in your face. A dark side step contrast against lighter vehicle paint colors will be undesirable for some.
Atlast, rounder wheel wells 🙏
Looks like this twin will have the nicer grill. That Chevy grill is hideous!
Not a fan of the paint scheme.
Looks like it will have a ginormous denali grill on first pic
Hopefully front end will flow better than chevys
The high country front end looked alot better than the lower model blacked out version.
Ill still wait for in person to cast my final thought.
Still glad a picked up an 2018 though.
they truly have the ugliest dually of the big 3, it has a really big wheel well and real little tires or maybe a combination of both
This one looks like it will be better looking than the Chevys. The High Country looked the better of the two but the "high country" must have been where the designers were when coming up with the new front ends.
Don't care for the bed step. I understand it's very functional but it just looks tacky. Will look even more so with full length running boards/tubes.
Personally I've grown tired of the high hoods and the windshields raked back so much for efficiency sake. I'm no doubt in the minority when I say I'd give up some efficiency and get more visibility out the windshield and with perhaps smaller A pillars.
Definitely better looking than the Silverado. I could probably live with the wierd wheel wells. Love the idea of the Allison 10 speed.
Is it just me or does this new gen look like 08-13 from side and add in a little 80’s step side and you got it. So they are only offering step side now and no more fleet side?
Someone will correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t think it will be an Allison 10sp in the gassers - more like the GMord tranny.
Will be an "Allison approved" transmission not designed or built by Allison.
@ Just the truth
Is that like “trail rated”?
It can look like the WagonQueen Family Truckster on steroids, but as long as the wheel wells are "more rounded."
Phew on that!
A Real Heavy Hauler.
Same butt ugly side view mirrors. Much improved grille/headlights than the Chevy LT but then again it is a disaster. Keeping the step is smart. Should see it on ALL trucks. The extra angles in the wheel wells are cute/original. Finally hid the DEF tank, and not dragging its frame around. I think they also centered the steering wheel. They have finally covered some ground. Shame they don't pay the taxpayer back and regain some honor.

Open your mind, fool ! The payback is the creation and availability of quality built vehicles.

Yet this a prototype, something you can’t buy. Therefore NOT real
Why do GM have trouble making a decent looking mirror. They went from a pivot joint tow mirror to this step ladder tow mirror. WTH.
Not only that, they make the Chevy's wells rounder and the GMC more angular. They basically just swap them around.
Don't expect to put larger wheel/tires on this with the looks of those wheel wells.
Ram paraded all their 2020 2500 Rams down the road un-camo'd to let the whole world see them...
Not as good looking as the Chevy but still a nice truck. Love the side step in the quarter panel. These new trucks are so high it will become a useful tool.

If you didn't spend so much of your time trying to be someone else, you might be able to decern the difference of what is or isn't real. Often you just carry on conversation between the many user names that you have abducted from others.

Which one of those characters in your head told you to type that???
Perfect description of yourself..., LOL
It has been well established that GM is 3rd place in heavy duty truck sales actually 3rd place is last place in this category and quite likelyto remain so.Were you to separate out by brand the GMC would be 4th place otherwise known as dead last.
GM has lost share in the full size trucks at 5% per year every year since 2015. This lost share has gone to Ford.
Those are facts.
If 3/4 ton sales numbers were available they would be even worse.
they truly have the ugliest dually of the big 3, it has a really big wheel well and real little tires or maybe a combination of both
GM has outsold Ford (in pickups) during the last 4 years. During that time Nissan and Toyota were a non factor. I guess when it comes down to nuttin' time, Ford is becoming non factor as well.
Papajim Yes if you add GM mid and full size together that is more than Ford full-size. If comparing 4 lines of trucks to one makes.you happy so be it. The first day of Ranger sales will have Ford the leader in "pickup" sales. Then what will you add together?
But if you look at the top 10 selling cars in the world of ALL time... there is 1 Chevy (Impala)... and 3 Fords (one of which is the F150).
GovMsR uses a lot of meth if he really believes repayment comes from a 2nd rate product.
But hey... losers back losers, never learn and honor is a foreign concept for socialists/deadbeats.
GM and Ford abandoning the small and midsized car market (because they simply cannot hack it) is the road to ruin in the next recession/fuel price hike. Ford tap danced around the last one by being smart and the least screwed up of the 3. GM like the dumba$$ it is stupidly crashed and burned and ripped off every US taxpayer. Until these companies profits are car (NOT Tuck) based they will always be either boom or BUST.

Just the truth, GM builds trucks, Ford builds trucks, GM sells more trucks, Just the truth.
@ gms As usual you are wrong. Ford sales more trucks. You have to say pickups for GM to sell more. That ends the first day of Ranger sales.
@ just the
I could care less who sells more. I want reliability and GM has done that for me
Ill take my 6.2L and beat any Ford ecoboost at $42K price range that I paid for my truck
U have to spend $75K to compete with a 6.2L.....the new H.O. does beat it. I just read a review! But look at $$$ u have to spend. So ill break it down.
So in essence I bought my truck and my wifes terrain both new for less money then a new limited H.O. ecoboost....now thats insane.
And too supercharge a 6.2L is $7500. So for about $50k u can have over 600 HP and 650TQ at crank and still have $25K to spend on maybe a preowned SS convertible camaro........
Why would anyone pay that for a limited f150??? Mind boggling
Your P.O.S. truck gets trounced by a 5.0L F150. Tune into TFL for proof
So shut up about already you whining runt.
@ clown @$$ leech
It doesnt get beat by a 5.0L clown
Thats a 2wd vs a 4 wheel drive
U dont own either so it doesnt matter, heck u dont even own your ow username....thats how pathetic u are.
Now run along and find a church so u can find yourself somewhere i. The messed up melon of oneself!
Good day leech
You’re actually denying the video proof of a 5.0L F150 beating the snot out of 6.2L Sierra provides by reputable TFL?
You are fool.
What would look nicer and probably be more functional is if that side step worked more like a miniature tailgate; simply push the top and let it fold out in the same way their gas caps do now. It wouldn't be that hard or any heavier, while cleaning up the side lines nicely when not in use.
Here comes the TNTGMC(in blue) online hissy-fit...
* provided *
@ all u fools using multiple names
Im not saying the 5.0L 2wd didnt beat it. Im stating that an apples to apples 4wd vs 4wd. Its not a contest.
Btw....non of u i bet own a 5.0L with a 10spd anyways....
Now all u fools grow up
Especially Lawn Ranger. U are pathetic man. I looked over your post this a.m. You search out GMSRGREAT, just to try and call him out.
Your kinda a clown......."behave and post responsibly" yet dont call out my fellow ford guys on anything. Your a hypocrite if ive ever diagnosed one....and i have diagnosed many.
Have a great day.
Heres proof...
Facts!!!
Car and driver.
https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/2019-chevy-silverado-pickup-high-country-by-the-numbers
5.4 secs for 6.2L
5.9 secs for 5.0L
Both similarly equipped. 4wd trucks.
Now move along fools.
@TNTGMC
Apples to apples??? Practice what you preach as you whine about “ tuning “ or supercharging a 6.2L ( wouldn’t be stock ) to be able to beat a stock 3.5L HO.
So keep crying you little child about your dads precious 6.2L Sierra ( stock ) being out gunned by a stock 5.0L F150. Or maybe write to Santa and ask for a 2wd 6.2L for your dad for Christmas....
Your kinda a clown......."behave and post responsibly" yet dont call out my fellow ford guys on anything. Your a hypocrite if ive ever diagnosed one....and i have diagnosed many.

To gain respect, please support your claim with a link to a reputable source of data.
@ The Lawn Ranger, how many different user names have you posted under here at PUTC ?
Before answering that question I would like to refer you to the 10 commandments and pay attention to the one commanding you not to lie.
If you want the quickest V8 Full Size...after all, performance is all that’s to TNTGMC. Drag Racing 101 - be quicker than your competition. And GM doesn’t build a Full Size that is as quick as a 2wd F150 5.0L And that is a fact.
You don’t buy ( or in the case of TNTGMC, his father ) a GM. You buy a F150 with the 5.0L
