2011-2013 Ford F-150: Recall Alert

2013 Ford F-150

By Patrick Masterson

Vehicles Affected: Approximately 1.26 million model-year 2011-13 Ford F-150 pickup trucks equipped with six-speed automatic transmissions built at the Dearborn Assembly Plant in Michigan from April 28, 2010, to Oct. 28, 2013, and the Kansas City Assembly Plant in Missouri from May 18, 2010, to Nov. 18 2013

The Problem: An intermittent loss of the transmission output speed sensor signal to the powertrain control module could result in a temporary, unintended downshift into 1st gear, increasing the risk of a crash.

Ford said it is aware of five reports of accidents, including one report of "whiplash" potentially related to this condition.

The Fix: Dealers will update the powertrain control module software for free.

What Owners Should Do: Ford did not immediately announce an owner-notification schedule. Owners can call the automaker at 866-436-7332, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.

Not good (already accidents and injury) and a big one (lots of units). The only "good" thing is the fix is easy. Now don't be like GM and need more than once chance to fix it or send a notice to anyone killed by it.

Geez, I better contact my stepdad to make sure he is ok and see if his is one of the 1.26 million that needs repaired....my guess is YES!

Well that speaks volume, your mom don't even know who your real father is.

HAHAHAHAHAHA

@ Frank

Stay on topic man.

Parents divorced when I was 18 dip💩

The guy who says turbos aren't an advantage. 🤣😂🤣😂🤣

who says turbos aren't an advantage.

Posted by: TNTGMC | Feb 13, 2019 12:12:29 PM

I agree turbos are an advantage. That is why Ford's 2.7 will smoke a gm 5.3 and run with or a little ahead of a 6.2.
Who said we could not agree on something.

Now don't be like GM and need more than once chance to fix it or send a notice to anyone killed by it.

Maybe Ford will send out a dash decal to remind drivers of the potential and that they should always remain aware and alert of the inevitable.

@ Full of $hit

I agree it will beat a 5.3l, (bc it has 2 turbos) but it doesn't beat a 6.2l

I have a 6.2l and have beaten both a 3.5L and 2.7L that are both in the family. The 2.7L is a 17. The 3.5L is a 13 and that is probably going in for another RECALL

I have also proven this through numerous magazine articles.

Come on man, you too easy to defeat! Atleast have something to back up your bogus claims.

BTW...you like those Facts from yesterday about the 5.3L? They really shut you up didn't they!

The 2.7 can't run with a GM 6.2 in any situation, or with a GM 5.3 on a hot summer day, like when towing your RV.

Hearing you Farts speak about smaller displacement engines competing with bigger displacement engine is laughable at best, as if they are happy a bigger engine can barely beat a smaller displaced engine, in other circumstances it outright beats the bigger displaced engine.

Laughable at best.

The problem was obvious

As a technician myself, I believe this reprogram is an immediate software patch that covers a hardware condition. Don't be surprised that these owners of F-150's have to cough up for transmission speed sensor or wiring repairs in the near future. Just say'in.

@ Frank

You can think what you want. It's your opinion (A childish one at that!). But when 2 people don't get along, it's not because of the 3 kids they brought into this world and did everything for them, hate to break it to you.

You try and one up me, but it doesn't happen, bc you truly are hopeless.

Especially when you say Turbos aren't an advantage.......LMFAO!!!

Now please comment on the topic instead of for yourself.

@Frank. Do you prefer the Italian-flavor bread crumbs or the plain?

@TNTGMC

“ I agree it will beat a 5.3l, (bc it has 2 turbos) but it doesn't beat a 6.2l “

Stop your lies. The 3.5HO beats the 6.2L handily. And depending on conditions, the regular 3.5 runs neck and neck with the 6.2L.

yes there is ----> tntgmc

c'mere little fishy. Want some more bread crumbs?

@Brawndo

sorry man

but papajim is posting so much

that I threw you under the bus

I'm just here for the three stooges

Ford's over-worked spokesman (for admitting they build crap) said the company has issued seven recalls in the first six weeks of 2019.

"We move quickly on behalf of our customers when we determine a safety recall is needed with our decisions driven by the available data. We recognize the inconvenience that recalls cause our customers. Yet customers also know these actions help ensure their safety and improve quality and customer satisfaction. We are absolutely committed to launching products with top quality and addressing issues when we see them"

...but they just don't think it's profitable to do so.

I was feeling a little guilty so I just got back from Confession and thought that I'd say something nice about Ford for a change:

In today's news, Bloomberg reported that Ford saw a surprise sales gain in January of 7%. This was a much better-than-expected month in January when compared to the expectation of analysts to drop by 1.5%. Overall, the industry as a whole saw a largely good month with Edmunds’ analysts predicting an increase in January 2019 of about 1.3% when compared to January 2018.

Ok, that's better.

In a different story today, somebody at VW is throwing shade at the VW-Ford "merger" poop-storm that was hot on everyone's minds here a few weeks ago.

You'll recall at the time I threw cold water on, and rightly so. It was all marketing hot air, as it turns out---Ford was trying to soak VW for a Billion dollars for the privilege of being Ford's friend I suppose.

VW balked and Ford revised their shake-down offer to half a Billion (!!!) and VW said, can't we just be friends? And now the discussion has deteriorated to a No-Bucks friendship. There's probably a whole team at Ford Dearborn packing their boxes today.

Turns out that Ford was trying to duplicate the success GM had fleecing Honda last year over the Self Driving Cars racket. Worked for GM so Ford thought they'd give it a try.

Some of the usual dopes here (and in Australia---shocker!) fell for it but not Papajim. No siree!

A safety recall is a defect that can cause an unsafe condition. The speed sensor failing isn't the defect. It's the fact that the signal is lost and the PCM isn't applying the right strategy under the condition and causing a downshift to first gear. Parts like speed sensors do on occasion fail. Should a manufacturer replace every part that eventually fails? Should ball joints and tie rod ends that will eventually fail and could cause an unsafe condition be replaced for free forever? If the recall was for a harness that gets rubbed or shorted due to a manufacturer defect that's different. You, like always make an uniformed bogus post. You're a technician huh? The fact that you don't even understand this article tells me a lot about your technical skill level.

And GM was down 7% in January sales

Yes. You. Making claims that the Harley Edition is “ another special edition brought to you by Ford “. When the fact is , it’s created by Tuscany Motor Company you stupid old man.

@ imposter

Get your own name clown

@ Brawndo

So the 3.5HO isn’t a 3.5L EB? What does what I own have to do with this? The facts and figures back it up you clown

You read it here folks. According to TNTGAY, the 3.5L HO isn’t a 3.5L.

Ah give him a break. TNTGMC is special needs student. Most of the time, he know not what he says. He can’t even remember what username he’s logged under

@ Brawndo

Bc u have to spend $75k to have an H.O. 3.5L

If u add the exhaust and intake from GM it doesn't beat a 6.2L. I should know. O actually own one! I got mine all for $44k. Ill save $31k and buy a camaro ss convertible for that ridiculous price

And yes, u don't own one so stop talking trash. Z

would expect nothing less from Ford. Quality is job 1.

“ And yes, u don't own one so stop talking trash. “

According to you, unless you one the specific vehicle, you cannot talk about it “

Well, you don’t own an F150 of any any model, do you’re not allowed to take about them. Same goes for Ram, Toyota, Nissan etc etc

I can’t wait to see you spew “ your rule “ to papajim, GMSRGREAT et la. If you don’t, you’re a biased hypocrite.

HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ford =junk!!!!!!! When they gonna recall the 100's of thousands of f150s for warp dash boards!!!!!!!!!!! Every time I go to a store I look in the windowshield of f150s and 90% have warp dashes! The HO 3.5l eco turd is more of a unicorn then a GM 6.2L eat some more crow Furd clowns LMBO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@ Brawndo

No, there is a difference. U came at me like a child and insulting. I do have many Ford's in the family. All have eaten my exhaust. 6.7L diesel, 3.5L, 5.0L and 2.7L. I also raced a 17 raptor from a 30 mph dig and he did not win to 80!

Also gmsrgreat can comment all he wants. He owns a 6.2L and he has also stated no EcoBoost has beaten him

Its been over 20 years since Ford has had a truck compete performance wise with GM. Do u realize how long that is??? Now it has one, yet u have to pay almost double what a 6.2L can do. Who is the clown?

Im far from a hypocrite

If u wanna talk to me, im here, but the minute u say I'm not telling truth....it p!sses me off bc I don't have to lie, especially to someone like YOU!!

Oh by the way just put a twin turbo setup on my 8,000 pound 2018 GMC 3500 6.0L, an not a single empty eco pop ford f150 5,000 pound I know of with tuners can hang with it! LMBO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Brag up your ford go cart engines some more, Ford knows the truth though! That's why Ford just built a 1950s push rode v8 to put in their 2020 HD trucks LMBO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
