2017-2019 Honda Ridgeline: Recall Alert

2018 Honda Ridgeline

By Patrick Masterson

Vehicles Affected: Approximately 106,600 model-year 2017-19 Honda Ridgeline pickup trucks

The Problem: Car wash detergents containing sulfuric acid could drain from the truck bed and seep into the fuel pump's fuel-feed port. If not fully rinsed off, sulfuric acid seepage can crack the port, resulting in a pressurized fuel leak that can increase the risk of fire in the presence of an ignition source.

Honda said it has received no reports of fires, crashes or injuries related to this condition.

The Fix: Dealers will inspect and replace the fuel pump, as needed, as well as install a fuel pump cover. Both repairs will be done for free.

What Owners Should Do: Honda will begin notifying owners in early March. Owners can call the automaker at 888-234-2138, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.

My guess, he'll likely say he knew about it last month. He is the king ding-a-ling one upper round these parts!! He knows everything. Just ask him, he'll tell you!! 😂🙈

Actually I'm taken by surprise that drive through car-wash operations use a solution containing SULFURIC ACID on your vehicle.

Can that be true?

Gives me another reason never to take my truck to one of those ridiculously overpriced joints. The self serve car wash places cost a couple of bucks and I'm cool with that.

As far as Ridgelines go, when Honda does a recall on Ridglines they shouldn't take much longer than a lunch break. They really did not sell all that many.

Shows us all how stupid you are. In what world does the length of time for performing a recall have to due with the number of vehicles sold???

FAKE tntgmc

Why don't you let that question be your assignment for this week?

So you can’t answer my question. Thanks for proving you are just an online t roll.

The sulfuric acid excuse sounds absolutely unbelievable. If that were true and car washes were spraying acid everywhere the insides of car washes would look like a scene from the Aliens moves where the alien bleeds acid on the floor and it burns a hole straight through it. All this really is is a convenient excuse for shoddy engineering.

They do use acids in Car washes. Supposedly it wont hurt the clear coat but I'm sure it is not good on the rubber and plastic components. I stay out of the automatic car washes and use a bucket and a hose.

@the faker

Answer: the same world where the word DO (verb) is not spelled d-u-e you illiterate nose-picking fool. In some states, adults are allowed to repeat the 3rd grade. You should look into it.

only selling 100K units in 2 years time makes this a lot easier and more manageable than 1.whatever million F150s.

Seems like a simple fix, on a strange almost unforeseeable issue, no injuries, no damage and as long as they fix it for free properly the first time no foul.

@ papajim

LMFAO!....That's some funny stuff. The imposter tries so hard to fit in. Heck, he even uses my name. Yet, sadly, he fails miserably.

I actually liked the first generation Ridgeline. It was rugged and touch looking. This new generation looks to much like a pilot.

@ Yard sale...aka keyboard warrior

Listen, I was agreeing with papajim because the clown imposter using my name made a mistake! Looks like the imposter is you!!

Huge difference. You're so insecure and foolish you can't understand the difference. Or, you're just that childish and alone you don't want to see/understand the difference?!?

I was brought up the right way. It's so disrespectful to use someone else's name and then pretend to be them.

If you have a half a brain and you're parents weren't complete dead beats they would have explained this to you!

Now, add something to this comment section instead of constant banter....

I'm done talking to a person who doesn't have an interest in changing and doing something with himself.

Have a great day, and remember only you can change your ways!!

Imagine the rest of the trucklet will it melt under rain. If the suppose truck hit a mosquito will it blow apart.

What kind of garbage metal are they using for fuel lines over at Honda these days?

@ Vincent
Ford had Recall for some 2018 F-150 for fuel pump assembly increased risk of fire. Every vehicle gets recalled for something just hope it's not that serious. I had the 2007 Ridgeline in for Airbag inflator they replaced driver and passenger.
My Acura had the transmission recall problem they had extended the warranty. It was brought in for the check but years later had the know problem. It happen just as the recall notice described re-manufactured transmission put in car is 19 years old.

@ridgeline owner

Understand that the pickup truck market is brutal and unforgiving.

The Honda Ridgeline came out with a pretty fair amount of arrogant hubris and the elitists largely use it as an example of why the rest of us are wasteful luddites. Similar to the Vegan-non vegan argument. This tends to invoke a visceral level of disdain. The Chevy Volt did the same thing.

It isn’t that the Ridgeline is a terrible product or that it is any less reliable than the rest, rather there just aren’t that many of them compared to the number of dealers.

Getting a Tacoma in for the frame rust issue was a fiasco, which illustrates the point above.

To each their own, i personally think the Ridgeline was the perfect “truck” for Honda/Acura fans. My Brother in-law loves his.

FAKE tntgmc

Why don't you let that question be your assignment for this week?

Posted by: papajim | Feb 13, 2019 8:21:01 PM

It is easy to see that papajim,TNT,johnnydoe & GMSRGREAT are the same person. He has been caught posting without signing out, misspelling when he signs into another username etc. Guy is a bonafide LOSER.

I already knew about this recall last week.
