Ordering is about to open for the new 2020 Jeep Gladiator mid-size pickup truck, and Jeep is kicking off the event in a couple of ways. First is the announcement of a limited Gladiator Launch Edition, which it plans to only make available through a one-day online preorder April 4. The Gladiator Launch Edition comes only one way: as a fully loaded Rubicon with unique badging, wheels and interior accents. As such, it's going to be a pricey truck: The sticker price will be north of $60,000, according to Jeep. Along with the preorder, Jeep enters buyers in a contest to win $100,000.

The Jeep Gladiator website where you can preorder will be active for only 24 hours on April 4 — i.e., 4/4, or "Jeep 4x4 Day," according to the brand. The special concierge site will assist potential buyers in the ordering process, including selecting a Gladiator Launch Edition, helping estimate the value of a customer's trade-in and connecting with a dealer. Jeep will limit production to 4,190 units, a nod to the Toledo, Ohio, factory where the Gladiator is built in the 419 telephone area code.

The Launch Edition is based on the Rubicon trim with a higher ride height, electronic locking differentials and sway-bar disconnects, a lower crawl ratio and other equipment. Unique features to the Gladiator Launch Edition include an aluminum-forged tailgate badge, 17-inch mid-gloss black-aluminum wheels, 33-inch Falken Wildpeak all-terrain tires, a wrapped instrument panel and mid-bolster painted in Monaco silver, and black leather seats with unique red accent stitching. Five colors will be available: black, Bright White, Billet Silver Metallic, Firecracker Red and Granite Crystal Metallic. The hardtop and fender flares will be body-colored, and the bed will feature the Trail Rail cargo management system and spray-in bedliner.

Buyers of the new Gladiator Launch Edition also will be exclusively eligible to enter Jeep's "Find Your Freedom" contest, which will award one lucky winner a $100,000 cash prize, or what Jeep is calling one year's salary. It's meant to enable the winner to take a year off and go enjoy a Jeep outdoor lifestyle adventure. To win, buyers of the Launch Edition must submit a "personal Gladiator video" to Jeep, which will be judged by Jeep brand and wounded U.S. Army veteran Noah Galloway, who will choose the winner.
