Engine specs, payload capacities and fuel economy ratings can tell you a lot about a truck, but they can't tell you the whole story. To truly know how a pickup is going to perform in the wild and whether those raw facts 'n' figures translate to something that's gonna suit your lifestyle, you gotta get that thing off the dynamometer and out on the road. And that's just what we did with the redesigned-for-2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, as we put the full-size pickup to the test for real-world needs under real-world conditions in the real world.

PickupTrucks.com contributor Dan Carney tested a 2019 Silverado 1500 LTZ Z71 4x4 — powered by a 420-horsepower, 6.2-liter V-8 engine making 460 pounds-feet of torque and mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission — in everyday scenarios. These included hauling a load of tree branches and towing a recreational vehicle (a racecar, in this case), while also monitoring fuel economy and gauging the livability of the truck in terms of things like cargo storage, convenience features and technology.

Evidently, y'all wanted to find out how it went, as the article ranks No. 1 among our most popular content in the entire month of April.
