Vehicles Affected: Approximately 1,500 model-year 2019 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vans equipped with high-beam assist

The Problem: A software error in the control unit may prevent the driver from being able to switch off the high beams when intended, possibly resulting in oncoming traffic being blinded by the van's lights, increasing the risk of crash.

The Fix: Dealers will update the control unit software for free.

What Owners Should Do: Mercedes-Benz manufacturer Daimler Vans will begin notifying owners June 7. Owners can call the automaker at 877-762-8267, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
