Think you know what the most trouble-free new pickup truck on the market is after 90 days? According to the J.D. Power 2019 U.S. Initial Quality Study, the answer may surprise you — it's not the Ford F-150 or Chevrolet Silverado, it's the Nissan Titan. According to the survey, which measures problems per hundred vehicles as reported by owners in the first 90 days of ownership, the Titan ranks highest in the "Large Light Duty Pickup" category with just 66 problems per 100 vehicles reported (PP100); a lower number is better. Not only that, but the truck tied for seventh overall in terms of problems reported — out of 257 vehicles surveyed, according to Nissan. The Ford F-150 came in second in the large truck category, followed by the Toyota Tundra.

The Titan was not the only truck rated in the survey. For mid-size trucks, the Ford Ranger was ranked highest. Nissan's ancient Frontier mid-size pickup came in second in this category with 95 PP100. For large heavy-duty trucks, the Chevrolet Silverado HD took top spot, followed by the Ford Super Duty.
The J.D. Power Initial Quality Survey found that the average for the industry was 93 PP100, with more brands worsening over the last 12 months than improving. The top three brands overall were South Korean, with Genesis, Kia and Hyundai leading the industry by a wide margin.
