The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Midnight and Rally editions are coming back for the 2020 model year, and both made their public debuts at the 2019 State Fair of Texas in Dallas. The off-road-focused Midnight Edition will be available on LT Trail Boss or Custom Trail Boss trucks, while the street-oriented Rally Edition will be available on Custom and RST trims.

The Silverado 1500 Midnight Edition is only available with black exterior paint, featuring additional prominent exterior pieces blacked out or darkened. Silverado badging, the grille, bumpers, exhaust tips and side steps are all black, as are the wheels (though that's part of the Trail Boss look already, as is a 2-inch suspension lift and Z71 off-road package). The only exterior parts that aren't black are the actual head- and taillights and the recovery hooks, which are still red. Customers who opt for the LT Trail Boss Midnight Edition additionally get special LED headlights with dark bezels and daytime running lights.

Engine choices for the Custom Trail Boss Midnight Edition are either the 5.3-liter or 6.2-liter V-8, with six- or 10-speed automatic transmissions respectively. Step up to the LT and you get the 6.2-liter and 10-speed.

If you're looking for more of a street-truck look instead of an off-roader (or want a paint color other than black), try the Rally Edition. Available in black, red, silver or white, the Rally Edition gets a body-colored grille, black stripes on the hood and tailgate, and black exterior trim pieces including badging, exhaust tips and side steps.

Custom Rally Edition trucks come with 20-inch black wheels and the 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired to an eight-speed automatic. RST Rally Editions get 22-inch black wheels and one of three engine and transmission combinations: the same turbo four and eight-speed from the Custom, a 5.3-liter V-8 and eight-speed or the 6.2-liter V-8 and 10-speed.

Both special edition trucks will be available for order in October and arrive at dealerships later in the year.
