Toyota's perennially popular Tacoma mid-size pickup truck has received a mild redo for 2020, stopping well short of a full redesign but adding features the truck has been criticized for lacking for several years. Now we have pricing to go with the new changes, and not much has changed here, either: The 2020 Toyota Tacoma starts at $27,170 (including destination fees) for an SR Access Cab, which is $200 more than the 2019.

Tacoma trims in ascending price are SR, SR5, TRD Sport, TRD Off Road, Limited and TRD Pro. The majority of trims see their prices rise by $200, with destination fees remaining unchanged at $1,120 for the Tacoma.

The notable exceptions are the SR5 4x4 double cab V-6 long bed that inexplicably rises $350 (the rest of its versions rise only $200), and the Limited and TRD Pro trims. The Limited trims see a sizable jump of $1,000, while the TRD Pro sees a $995 price jump for the manual transmission version and a $1,000 jump for the automatic. Neither model gets much more equipment than it had before, and the changes that only brought a $200 change to lesser trims are also present here, so it must be a demand-based price bump for these models.

Newly available on SR5 trims and up is a 10-way power driver's seat with height and lumbar adjustment, allowing a half-inch lower driving position for taller drivers and a seat bottom that's now adjustable for angle as well. All of the multimedia systems are upgraded with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Amazon Alexa compatibility, with the SR trim getting a 7-inch screen and the SR5 and above getting an 8-inch. The side window glass is a bit thicker, the six-speed transmission gets a slight tweak to its operation, and all models get a redesigned grille. Each of the trims gets a little love, but the changes are minor adjustments meant to tide over consumers until a completely redesigned model arrives sometime in the next few years.
