Vehicles Affected: Approximately 464,000 vehicles including model-year 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 pickup trucks

The Problem: Due to an electronic brake control module software error, the vehicle's electronic stability control and antilock brake system may become disabled. Furthermore, if this error occurs, the vehicle's diagnostics will not illuminate the instrument cluster ESC and ABS malfunction warning lights, increasing the risk of a crash.

The Fix: Dealers will reprogram the electronic brake control module software for free.

What Owners Should Do: Chevrolet and GMC manufacturer GM will begin notifying owners Jan. 27. Owners can call Chevrolet at 800-222-1020, GMC at 888-988-7267, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
